Hi there. I hope you're both well. I wanted to apologise to you both for my past behaviour in this forum particularly nasty overt and covert comments and digs on diary entries and in the chatroom. I'm addressing my issues with alcoholism so you perhaps know why I'm doing this but I'm also doing it because I want to.

Best wishes, Phil.

Hi

For me an apology is not about who is right or wrong, an apology is about repairing damaged relationships.

For me an apology is an act of a maturing person.

For me an apology indicates a person is starting to care more about him self and other people.

For me an apology indicates a person is becoming more accountable to him self.

When I was younger I was asked if I could engage brain before using my mouth.

What I was thinking and feeling did not represent the words I used that adversely affected other people and my relationship with my self and other people.

Until I am admitted to myself that I was unhealthy no one could help me help myself.

Please keep going to meetings, you will benefit from it in so many ways.

Love and peace to every one.

Hi Phil

Fair play - appreciate that so thank you. I don't remember anything major but certainly there was some low level animosity for a while.

I actually read recently of your struggles with alcohol and how you're now successfully addressing this. I was delighted for you and wanted to congratulate you at the time but wasn't sure how you'd receive it.

Anyway, I'll say it now - congratulations on your recovery! Sounds like you're doing well

Louis

Good morning and thank you for your response Louis.

To be honest I had no real idea of what "one day at a time" meant until I HAD to address my drinking problem. I was nine months sober yesterday.

I was sober for six months before I went back to AA - I half-heartedly gave AA a "go" some years ago but wasn't prepared or willing to put the work in to maintain sobriety. I had to become extremely ill physically (and mentally) to understand that I couldn't drink alcohol under ANY circumstances - happy, sad, mad or glad as the saying goes.

I realised in early March I needed additional support - not necessarily because I was going to drink but because I needed guidance in terms of "living sober" if that makes sense? Returning to AA for me so far has been one of the best decisions I've ever made.

The only way I could reach out to you and Dan was through this forum because I genuinely feel remorse for things I've posted in the past regardless of working the 12 steps - ie making amends.

This post isn't related to gambling directly but like the one above it does come from the heart.

Best wishes, Phil
