Hi Aimee, welcome to the Forum,

It will always be that way for you my friend - the more you win, the more you will want to gamble (at higher stakes than before); the same goes for what you earn.

This is because you chase the sensation of winning and not the money itself; that becomes an irrelevance in time - all it serves is to fuel your compulsive behaviour.

Small stakes won't give that to you if you carry on, it won't give you the same level of euphoria so you keep increasing, one way or another; it is a slippery slope where your problems will snowball until you are out of control.

You are very young my friend, and you deserve enormous credit for working as hard as you have to qualify to be a nurse - enormously well done; you should be proud of yourself. Gambling will only ever take from you - it is a self-destructive entity; if you are a Nurse, then this doesn't represent your true character because you want a life which is contructive, and one where you help others.

Urges are only temporary, they soon pass - install blocking software like K9, Gamblock or Betfilter if you feel like you are struggling. Your time will be more precious than ever once you start, so try and use it to do things that give you genuine fulfilment and happiness.

Well done again Aimee. This is a start of a new life for you; there may be no better time to stop than right now; if you carry on, you may reach a stage where, in the future, you need every penny and have mouths to feed - you need to be ready for when that happens my friend.
