Hi JMA2588
Well done on recognising the problem with your gambling and for seeking advice. You will find a lot of support here and a community of people who understand your struggle with gambling please keep reading and posting on the forum.
I would encourage you to call our helpline and talk things through with a GamCare adviser on 0808 8020 133 or on our netline. The advisers can provide emotional support and helpful information as well as facilitate a referral to free one to one counselling appointments if you’d like to access that service.
Best wishes
Alex
You have made a good decision mate. There are plenty of people on here with similar issues. Don't be over critical of yourself. You have identified that you have a problem which is a start. Draw a line under things now and make today a fresh start. Putting yourself down only fuels the negative emotions that dwell inside you and believe me when you feel like that you are more likely to gamble. Set yourself small measurable targets eg target a week of abstinence, maybe 10 days, then 20 and so on. Educate yourself on what triggers your gambling behaviour and learn to distance yourself from those situations and experiences. Being gambling free is a long road with no turning but I believe each day gives you redemption. Soon the pain will ease and you can concentrate on rebuilding your life. Good luck.
