Hi neil well done on what you have achieved. It's a big step and would be lying if I said it's easy. These feelings you are experiencing will pass. It doesn't seem they will but they will. Distract yourself as much as you can. Hot bath maybe or brisk walk. I have certainly felt all that you've described. Best whishe's to you, keep coming back to site. You'll get so much support.

There, my friend, I can help you.

Trust when I say that I thought this was a joke once I first heard about it but it works extremly well.

Take a 50cl bottle. Start by swinging your arm with the bottle  90 degrees from the right hand then change the hand holding the bottle in the midle and do the same with your left-hand swing it 90 degrees then change and so on.

What are you doing with this easy procedure?

You're adding blood to both halves of the brain. The brain can not work the angst out and you will feel better.

You will see how fast you become calmer.

Try it.

Best C

Hey Neil

Thanks for sharing and well done on taking your first steps to be gamble free - can I ask what are you scared or why you can’t sleep?

The first few days are going to feel strange, stepping away from something that you have an addiction with are going to be unsettling to your system. Keep yourself busy at home, if you want to do house renovations, tidy your garage, go for walks, learn to play an instrument, get into a tv show, play the Xbox..

What helped me was to get more involved with any of the above, whenever I felt an urge, just do something to try and take your mind off it.

Being 8 months gamble free, my quality of life has improved, my relationship with my partner is strong, more focused on my job and career and I’ve managed to smash through a bunch of tv shows and make some home improvements!

There is always light at the end of the tunnel and YOU are the only one who can reach for it. YOU are the one responsible for your actions and YOU are the only one who can make the positive changes.
