So its the grand national today , one of the biggest if not the biggest gambled on races in the world.
Now ive been stoped gambling 38 days and counting ( after years or strying to stop but not really wanting to stop )and to help me ive tried to stay away from reading about this race , looking at the news / results etc . this hasnt been as hard as i thought due to a new mind set im try to have were as im trying not to think about gambling one little bit and just trying to concentrate on my work .
Come on people be strong , its only one race and its over in minutes, go for a walk ,make a coffee just dont get pulled in by all the fuss that surrounds it .
Hi Damperman,
I've been given up gambling for well over a year (was mainly horses).
In March and April it can be awful for people that have gambled (Cheltenham and Liverpool).
It can be difficult but I've got blocks on everything. Keep no money in wallet etc. One of the keys to it for me is in having strongest anti gambling measures in place to make betting an impossibility (even if I really wanted to). I don't really suffer many pangs at any other time of year. Have slight ones now though.
The other key thing is that you have to remain very determined. The consequences of gambling to me does not bear thinking about.
Best Wishes.
I was in the same boat as you Mr Stop, Cheltenham 2015 I watched and didnt bet after 1- months off gambling. May 2015 and i was in the full swing of it again. I resisted day 1 and 2 of Cheltenham and had 1 bet on day 3 which was a big winner. By the time the grand national had come down i had loss those winnings x 10.
Something triggered me to start gambling again and im 4 days into beng clean. Some how i went from a racing man to being obssessed with FOBTS. I can't do one or the other as it leads to destruction. I am determined to keep a clear mind, one day at a time with an aim of making June 1st without betting. That will be 2 pay days from now which is my goal.
Affected by gambling?
