Great decisions Amy...your gambling days are over and the low depressed feelings and isolation it brings are also over. Like you said...no point in even thinking about gambling....you cant gamble even if you wanted to! And you dont want to...becuase you never want to feel those aweful feelings again. Well done...keep going now, the only way is forward X

I think with summer approaching, our moods naturally get better and the days are longer and brighter. So much easier to fall into bad habits over the long dreary winter. Use the sunshine now to brighten your days and lighten your mood...get out, get active and enjoy each day without gambling.

The thought of it is still there but there’s nothing I can do about it so I feel a massive sense of relief!

Hi Amy,

I guess the thought/addiction will always be there, niggling away at us every day.. just keep taking it one day at a time and if you fall, just get right back up again and start from the beginning, each time hopefully you will get stronger, enjoying those days when you don't wake up feeling bad, sick and awful for what you have done because of this addiction. Hope you are doing ok, we can fight this together.

Every day without gamblilng is a good one 🙂 x

Hi Valdab and xangelx

Day 10 today... double figures!

I’m feeling a lot better and not really thought about gambling as it’s not a possibility for me. Having the blocks in place really really help, it takes all options away so there’s no point in thinking about it.

How are u both getting on 🙂 xx

Congrats on double digits Amy! Getting the blocks in place is the key...no option to gamble. So glad you have done this...things will only get better X

Hi Amy,

I've just read through this thread and your story has given me the idea of trying to achieve a certain number of days without gambling.

Like you've mentioned above it is the boredom that triggers it for me. I use to find the odd football bet fun but then as I won more I gambled more and here we are. I sat tonight and got up to over £2,000 in winnings before then losing it and depositing more to chase it like a fool.

I'm hoping sharing some of my stories on here will help me as it seems to have helped you.

Good luck in your quest,

P

Hi Amy, just read through all of your posts and my heart goes out to you. Im in the early days of recovery myself and were just wondering how you were getting on? I also have gamban and gamstop so literally have no way of accessing gambling sites which has taken a huge weight off my shoulders. Hope you are doing well xx

Just a thought ..
Using my parental controls on broadband ....
Blocking all gambling sites....
Worked for me...
Great if you're home a lot ...
Keep fighting.....one day at a time

I know what you mean about having the blocks in place really helping, after 46 days of GF I then had 800 pounds worth of relapse in the space of 2 days, I was so ashamed of myself but came straight on here and started over, properly this time. Deep down I know it was because I should have self excluded from these horrible sites from the start, can't explain how angry and disappointed I was in myself so I excluded myself after so many years of never even having a cool off period and am now on day 2. I feel much safer from those temptations now I have excluded.

Hope you are doing ok x

Hello everyone!

Just a quick update on my recovery... I have not gambled since 19th May, although I am not going to count the days as I’m too impatient and the number can sometimes be something I focus on too much.

I hope everyone is well and all doing well in recovery.

Just a quick note, I feel so much better than when I was last here. I feel normal, I have a little bit of spare money in the bank and it just stays there..or I buy shoes 🙂

My day isn’t consumed with slots, money, frustration and anger at myself, and my family are noticing the difference in me just being present and not feeling up, down, going crazy, hating life, and having a phone permanently in my face.

I was struggling so hard at one point, and coming clean to my husband helped get the ball rolling once and for all. That and gamstop.

It can be done, little steps everyday make a big difference eventually. Good luck to all. Amy x
