I have been gambling for a couple if years now, underaged gambling admittedly. I am utterly disappointed with my gambling addiction and want to take control of it before it gets uncontrollable. I don't want to talk figures, but I lost over two weeks wages in less than 20 minutes on online slot machines. This is why I have turned to gamcare. I have deleted betting accounts in which I own but in the back of my mind, I know that trotting down to the bookies is still an option, but an option I wish not to use.

Well suppose we phrase it as a multiple choice.

It's what you said.

Option 1. Quit now (people here can help)
Option 2. Quit later, after you hit rock bottom and lose your house and family and friends

Your decision . . .

Hiyoungaddict,

Welcome to the forum, and well done for your post.

I’m glad that you want to take control of your gambling problem before it gets out of control, and it is good you have taken some steps to stop yourself from gambling by deleting your betting accounts.

To improve on this action, I’ll suggest that you install one of the following internet blocking software below on your computer and mobile phone. The blocking software are:- Gamblock, Betfilter, and Net Nanny. It would stop you from accessing gambling sites. Pls. read about all of them before you install the one that you think would provide you with maximum benefit.

I would also like to make you aware that gambling gets worse if you don’t do anything about it, and it can easily get out of control. For this reason, it’s advisable to let go of all your losses, and focus on your recovery as you’re not going to be able to retrieve those monies back.

Also, you did mention that you’re an underage gambler, even though you didn’t state your age. In case you’re a teenager, then I’ll advise that you go to our website, and read from the Bigdeal section. Bigdeal section gives information about help and support for teenage gamblers.

In addition, you can contact Youth Access Counselling on: 0208 772 9900 in case you feel you need some counselling support to help you to overcome your gambling problem.

I would also like to encourage you to focus on your recovery, and to look forward to a gamble free future.

Pls. don’t hesitate to contact us again in case you need further help. Maybe you’ll like to contact us via our free phone Helpline on 0808 8020 133, and speak to one of our advisers; our lines are open everyday from 8.00am to midnight.

Thanks again for your post, and pls. keep posting as often as possible.

Best wishes,

Beatrice
