By the way have just realised that GF meant "gamble free."
In my mind I though everying was signing off GF - "girlfriend" with an ethnic US accent!
I though this fad was rather odd - I guess I have watched far too much Jeremy Kyle!
Markman I had a good laugh at that lol! Must admit it took me a while to get all the abbreviations myself but the GF one is the best! I can just imagine everyone saying "girlfriend" with an ethnic US accent haha.
Jeremy Kyle is definately Trash TV, the UK version of Jerry Springer!

It is funny as I first wrote Jerry Springer and then deleted and replaced with Jeremy Kyle. Both as trashy as each other but great viewing in some cases. JK also has did an American show and the conraast between his refined English with their redneck English is a real treat!

Collectively, we have cumulated 3011 days GF between us - that's approaching 8 years' worth. It's a great moment for the team.
Thank you for updating everyone! Well, here we are as we navigate - yet still enjoy - our second weekend of January. Being GF isn't easy, but my goodness how rewarding day-by-day. Ok, the finances may not be brilliant perhaps, and you might feel strangely down and aggitated (inc. yours truly) as some of us go through our very personal 'cold turkeys' (hopefully the Christmas ones have been finished at last!). But, these feelings DO subside and DO get better. We are always on guard, though, there's always an ambush wating and we have to be prepared.
Like many of us, probably all of us, I find the forums and webchat very interesting places and always learning something new. For example, I have always treated gambing as 'the enemy' but some of us do not see it that way. What it boils down to is that we all have different ways of handling and managing this horrible addiction, so whatever works, works. Some of us swear by GA and meetings, whatever floats your boat and does the trick!
It's interesting when we reach a good few days GF. We start to change our characters, slowly becoming, perhaps, the people we want ourselves to be. Maybe a bit more understanding of ourselves, and also of others. Let's face it, none of us would ever want to see anyone else go through what we have been through; we truly passionately care about our fellow man (and woman).
And for us, its always one day at a time, of course, we know that; but we can not only deal with it, but thrive despite it. Being GF is like having a new best friend on your shoulder!

P.S. Markman - your post about thinking 'GF' stood for 'girlfriend' was amusing! Truth is, I thought the same when I joined, and when I read someone triumphantly write "I've done 25 GF", I thought "Lucky you, but how does that help you stop gambling...!"
