Is anyone else feeling an overwhelming bout of guilt and shame at having this addiction especially as it's now the run up to xmas?! We have a 2 year old daughter and although we have bought all her gifts I still feel guilty that she has such a loser for a mum 🙁 still haven't told my partner either as I can't ruin yet another xmas! Xxx
Hi
You have to let the guilt go and forgot what has been and gone. Think about the future of you 2 year old. Next time ypu have the urge just think of the guilt then. What would your daughter say to you if she could speak and understand.
Enjoy xmas and start the new year with a fresh.
Keep strong
Hi there , We all feel guilt for how stupid weve been through gambling and I think its particularly bad during the early stages of recovery , I'm 3 months without a bet now and am starting to feel better about it , as will you I'm sure .
Maybe swap the guilt for pride now that youve decided to stop ?, You may have lost money but as we only win when we stop you really can't be a loser mum anymore, can you ?.
So cheer up and stop beating yourself up over it , whats done is done , we can't change the past so just concentrate on having a great xmas with your daughter and partner .
The only thing I will say is that telling him may take some of the pressure from you , as hard as it is to come clean , once you do it you will have a sense of relief , I know I did when I told my partner . Scary it may be but it did feel great ! .
Have a great xmas ..............................Alan
