Congratulations on 100 days GF Shaun. You seem to have a good understanding of recovery plus a genuine desire to stop gambling.

Keep doing what you are doing and before you know it you will be free as a bird way up there at the top of the gamble free mountain.

In my eyes you are a true gamcare warrior of integrity and courage who is striving forward on a mission to reclaim his life. I applaud your excellent progress...stephen

Terrific going Sean.

I like your style. It’s only a start.

Keep your guard up, never become complacent.

Yes K2, only a start. The way I look at it is say for instance in the last 100 days I would have lost £20 a day on gambling but didn’t has I didn’t gamble. Then for some insane reason I decided to gamble today and lose £2500. Well, then I haven’t done well for the past 100 days, all I have done is ‘delayed’ my gambling.

Thought for today, gambling is just a glorified way of mugging someone.

Shaun

Well done on your centenary Sean!! Remarkable, sometimes we do not know the strength and will power we have until we really test it. Your mind over matter approach and thinking differently about what gambling really is has worked. Keep it up 🙂 xx

Yes Shaun I do like the sound of this... I'm probably guilty of the scenario you've mentioned many times over as I just relied on willpower alone and refused to get support in any capacity. The support is an ongoing thing isn't it... I like reading your diary as it always reminds me that the battle is never won and this is a lifelong commitment. Keep going strong mate :o)

Hi guys

A warning to all good men and women.

Three years ago on this very evening, Xmas eve, we had a house full, kids, noise etc so I decided to venture out to the casino for a £20 bet and started playing roulette.

Two hours later, chasing zero and endless trips to the cashpoint I was £2800 down, having maxed out all my cards. Went home distraught, had a rubbish Xmas day, everyone was laughing and joking but I was dying on the inside. For the whole of the Xmas break I felt rubbish and like a zombie.

Just goes to show even a little Xmas flutter can end up disastrous.

Have a lovely Xmas guys and thanks very much for writing on my diary, it’s kept me focused.

Shaun

Merry Xmas Sean hope you have a great Christmas. Just think tomorrow we won’t be waking up with that gut wrenching feeling where one eye opens and you think please tell me that was just a nightmare after losing loads of money. Gamble free life is good. Thanks for your support. Take care.
