A quick update, day 30 gf .. I've had tremendous stress these last 30 days and not once have I spent a penny on gambling 🙂 . I've seen a councilor twice now and he says only one more session needed as I'm doing really well, I put that down to my support my knowledge and this site so Ty gamcare it may only be words on a screen but they bloody help. Thankfully my stress is easing now wasn't gambling related but family related and hopefully that's all sorted. Here's to my next 30 days gf when I will have £8 in that tin 🙂 red xx

Hello Red, possibly speaking out of turn here. Your councillor says ' only one more meeting needed ' . But, what do you think ? Agreed, knowledge and Gamcare hand in hand can and has been a great help for many successful abstainations. And I've also read people's counselling sessions coming to an end but in truth I've never read of a councillor saying, ' there you go, your sorted ' after 3 sessions..

It's only a well intended random thought, but don't let them rail road you, flip it and you tell them!

Agreed though that you are doing well and have made great strides..

Hey volcano, yes I get where you are coming from but I do believe he is right and my place can goto someone more needy. Im sure ( well I hope) that if id ever need them again ( which I hope I dont) id be allowed back? I have learned from experience there things I already know things I didn't and am very grateful for that service to which I will probably make a donation. He suggested a look at g.a which in my earlier posts I said I would give it a go but not got round to that yet.

Hopefully one day I may.

Hope your doing well red xx

Well I thought I'd check in on my 1st massive anniversary 100 gamble free days :). I cannot believe it's been 100 days it's been a journey of highs and lows thankfully the highs have now far out weighed the lows. If you have read my threads you will have read I've been a life time gambler but I'm determined to make it a life long commitment, I can honestly say in the last 2 months or so I have become and felt a different women, I had 3 private sessions and was told I wouldn't need anymore, I was going to visit g.a but really I feel I isn't need it , this site in the early stages has helped tremendously so Ty camcare and the posters who walk the keyboards of thoughts. Me and my partner are doing great he still won't trust me financially but maybe in a few years he may but I'm quite relieved and happy with my allowance each week and I'm managing to save money it's a great feeling. I come on here most days just to read and occasionally comment on posts I'm finding that gambling is becoming more and more common just by the amount of users that use this site.. Who do we blame? Ourselves? Temptation? Willpower or lack of it? Adverts? Or all of those I've been sat here a hour with the tv on low and on 4 commercial breaks alone there was 4 adverts on each commercial break advertising there evil sites tempting you in with there free spins and money match. In my opion it needs reviewing but it won't be while there's people out there who fall into the nasty trap of gambling. All I can add to this anyone just starting out on this journey of becoming g.f it can happen if you really want it to but the key thing is support luckily for me my family have helped and I owe them forever for that.. Here's 2 my next 100 days g.f Red x

Wow 100 days is amazing, congratulations on this, keep it up one day at a time! I'm with you on the adverts, they should be banned, there are far too many of them and they are creating new addicts by the day. Anyway one day at a time you are beating this, keep on going buddy!

Well I'm 143 days in to a gf life 🙂 the downs at the start was horrendous, loads of problems came in a spell of a month that should of really tipped me and my relationship over the edge. Bank issues and family personal issues. We finally dealt with them and I started to enjoy the feeling of being not only g.f but a new me. Ive think because of so many years and lies down to gambling the feeling of not having the deceit has made it so I had no urges but I was and still am very aware this is a life long commitment and will never be of my guard because the loss of real life is far greater than the loss of money. I don't have control over my money my wounderfull helpfull partner now deals with everything gives me a allowance each week into a bank account that is designed only to put money in and take money out which suits his mind and suits me to the ground. I did councilling for 3- sessions and was told im ok to fly alone my partner did 1 just to try and understand he came out ok. I was going to g.a but never got there as I felt I didnt need to. To all you on day 1 its a long road and it feels like the end of the world to start but as days tick by in to weeks then months trust me this horrible disease gets easy. But I will say YOU CAN'T DO IT ALONE thats the key support and the really wanting to stop without those 2 things it will not happen trust me ive been there.

Why on earth do you need to go into an “amusement” arcade and sit there, worrying about what other gamblers are doing? Better to keep the focus on what you’re doing to stay safe?

If you really want to stay dry, keep away from w et places. You don’t need them.

U obviously havnt read correctly. I didnt go to sit and worry I went because I wanted a full english and its the only place around me without traveling into town that does them. Its called willpower a new find of myn so I can stay DRY as u describe it although that's a alcoholics goal!!
