Hello Everyone I have been posting quite a lot recently as I am having deep urges of wanting to give in the thoughts the dreams the headaches and just gamble… But I won’t let them thoughts win I won’t let my partner or my family down I have came along way so when I have thoughts I come and look at how many days I’ve stopped how far I’ve come. When I was gambling I wasn’t happy I was constant sitting at a slot machine or sitting on my phone on a casino site constantly checking my bank the arguments I had with my partner over using the money to gamble constantly waiting up for pay day so I could gamble. I found this fun at the time but I knew I had to stop. So when I get thoughts I come on here look at how far I’ve come with my days and I read other peoples stories

Well done for staying gamble free. It was wise to read some stories on the forum to remind yourself how damaging gambling can be and that really are better off without it.

Having urges is natural. Acknowledging them is in a way, a good thing. You can now reason without yourself and make a conscious decision not to gamble, rather than an impulsive decision. Focus on the positives of being gamble free. Having more money, more time, far less stress and anxiety.

These urges are probably telling you that having a little gamble will be fun and harmless. You know that isn't true. It will be the beginning of something destructive. Don't throw away the last 614 days.

Stay strong. If it gets too tough, ask someone for help. There isn't any shame is saying "I have an urge that I really don't want to give in to, so please help me". That shows courage, not weakness. It's honest, not deceitful. It's something that should bring pride, not shame.
