Hi Duncan,
Just wanted to pop on to say thanks for your post, means the world.
Sorry to hear the young temple is giving you a tough time at the moment and that you have had lots of tests. Like you said give those burgers a rest and get on the corn, you won't tell the difference after a while, even my mum and gf are making me eat the stuff, I've lost quite a bit of weight but the wind, I won't go in detail, you can probably imagine! 🙂
Enjoy the time off and the walks with mum

Morning diary.
Well could not log on yesterday or this morning. But had a chat with Michelle on chat and she assured me all would return to normal. To which it has. The cynic in me said ah that big race is on?? Coincidence?? Maybe someone wanted us to enjoy a hurdle. Well i hope there are no fallers from it!!
Today i Will busy myself and hope the only celebrating Will be that Lazarus today posts a year gamble free. Flagg tomorrow to boot!! Lets celebrate for the right reason.
No bet for me today. No odds worth chancing what i have to lose.
Today i Will be aware that i am one bet from disaster.
Please let us all remain winners.
Duncs stepping forward never back.

Afternoon mate.
Hope this finds you well.

Hey Duncs,
Hope your doing good, stay strong. I got my blood work back yesterday, A1C was elevated, I have to start on another med, Now that I can think more clearly these days, I will get my health back, anyone that thinks gambling will just take your money, well, it will effect your health. Lots of veggies, egg whites, and fish for this guy. Enjoy your weekend.

Hi Duncs, just wanted to thank you for your recent support. Good to see that your still in a good place with regards to recovery. Like you suggest once we deal with the Cg behaviour we can then tackle the other areas of our lives which we have perhaps neglected for decades. Looks to me like you will reach a better place with your physical health in the not to distant future. Thanks again and warm regards... S.A 🙂
Hi Dunc, I'm not a genie but I've granted one of your wishes, I, as you now know, made it through the year mark milestone and I'm still going strong without being complacent. I'm equally, if not more so pleased to hear that you too are forever going forwards in all aspects of your life. You really are inspirational in how you see and tackle things, I'm glad I know you now and not when you gambled for the person you are now is someone to look up too.
Life can be cruel at times, just when you fix what's going on in your head, your body starts crumbling away. Maybe it's not 'cruel' just life I suppose, once you hit 40 your body starts to go into decline. Therefore it's important to take care of what carries you round, just so you can squeeze out as much as we can in this thing we call life. My family too has a history of high cholesterol, the highest mine was at one stage was 7.9 but now it just hovers around 5.2 which is hopefully a figure I can live with if you know what I mean. Your knees sound painful and my heart goes out to you on that one, nothing worse than pain. Hopefully if you just tweak a few aspects if your life and follow your Dr.'s advice then things will improve. What I like about you Dunc, apart from turning your life around, is the way you now value your life, how you really appreciate and love your lived ones, it's like you've reached a place not many people ever get to, I'm pleased for you and long may it continue.
Keep cooking, keep going forwards and look after yourself.
Steve

Evening diary.
What made it different this time???
I handed over my will to gamble to something else.
I through it found there is no shame in admitting defeat and through this stopped losing.
That something else.
Abstinence. I will live my life as a compulsive gambler, nothing will ever change that, but each day i earn the right to put the words which are hallowed to all of us.
Recovering. The holy grail, the trophy on offer to each and every one of us. To understand our shortcoming, our fault and act upon it.
Last year upon the grand national day everyone around me danced all day on eggshells, the same happened on derby week the guineas, Saturday mornings when i left the house, all these occasions affected others as i believe they all expected at some point i would again break my promises and gamble.
Well yesterday i spent a wonderful day with my family, mum spent her last day with us and it was another day to remember, for all the right reasons. Laughter filled the air, i got to make a selection of curries and we all had a great day. No stress anymore, the anxieties gone, now a common belief. There is a life to be had after gambling, you just have to believe.
Yes it is terrifying at first, from both sides of the fence.
But through belief the outcomes equally gratifying.
And for life may this continue.
Just for today, the day which counts the most.
No bet. The odds of becoming more of a winner, impossible.
Duncs stepping forward never back.
Hey Duncs,
Much congrats to all your hard work to abstain from this addiction that so many succumb to. I wish you the best in your continued journey of abstinence.

Inspirational as ever and so true what you say about recovery Duncs. I, myself choose to abstain for today and see no shame in accepting the defeat against gambling. I have far too much to lose if I carry on gambling. I will always be a compulsive gambler and that's why I need to stay in recovery.
Duncan mate I greet you with respect and wish you a long life with your family without the stress that gambling brings.
All the best,
Ergos xx
