Day 40.

Lovely afternoon spent at mine with my sister and some girlfriends. Drinks, food, music and balcony patio doors wide open, to let in the beautiful sunshine. 🌞😎. Lots of laughter and memories were shared. What more can I say!

In bed by 11pm and had a good night’s sleep. 👌.

Take care all.

Day 41.

Day out to the garden centre with my sister - she treated me to a lovely plant for my balcony and in memory of my nephew/Godson - her son, called Blue Star. 💙. We had tea and cake there also and then back to spend the afternoon in her garden, chatting and crying together. 💔. Such a sad time. 😢. We are there for each other - always have been and always will be.  With the down pour earlier, my new plant has been properly watered so I now await its blossom. 🙏.

Take care all.

Day 42.

A non working day today. Nothing much on really. Still on a very tight budget so this can limit what I can do/where I can go but not limitless of course!👍.

On Friday, I removed all my winter clothes from my wardrobe and packed them into my suitcase and then refreshed all my spring/summer clothes that were in it.  I am going to iron them all today, whilst listening to some nice music and then put them in my now clear wardrobe! 🙂. Very therapeutic and a task that costs nothing!

Plodding along in work and contemplating a big move - back to full-time, as opposed to my current part-time role. It will earn me more money of course and is literally down the bottom of my road so no more 2 hour commute there and back, stuck in traffic and what seems to be never ending road works!😤. The only thing is, my current post is permanent, with a good pension, whereas this new role I have got, is for the Home Office but initially with an employment agency for the first six months.  I have chatted to the agency and whilst they have told me that there is a very good chance that I will be kept on by the Home Office (as has been the case with several other candidates), or at the very least, have my contract extended with them or receive a fixed term contract with the Home Office, it is still knowing what to do for the best??? I feel I am done with my existing 20 year old job and the clientele I have had to deal with during that time, (especially after the sudden loss of my beautiful nephew), who never put a foot wrong. Is it time to take the chance, in the hope I am kept on and spend the next 5 years before I retire, in a much less stressful role but working full time - 8-4pm and 10-6pm shifts - two easy shifts, within walking distance from my home and no travel expenses? A hard decision but for now, I am just going with my gut and leaving it in the hands of God 😇. I really did not think I would get through the clearance for this role due to the amount of debt I have (currently being managed and paid through Stepchange). However, I did and I was granted this super quick also 👍. Is this a sign for me to go with it?? In my current organisation, we are also about to embark on some huge changes in the coming months, which will greatly affect mine and my colleagues role. Again, is this a sign telling me, this is a good time to go?? Decisions, decisions……

Anyway, back to today, I am not in work so as I said above, I will get that summer close ironing done, whilst listening to my favourite music and then I will get out for a nice walk and just let everything be for the minute. 🙂.

Take care all and keep your worries to a limit - 75% of what we often worry about does not even come true! It’s a fact!! 😀.

Huge congratulations pinky. Getting all that ironing done is quite a feat, oh yeah and on getting the job! Decisions decisions. I suppose you can only go with the idea that you can’t change the past, you can only change the future. How that future looks very much depends on your decisions now. I hope whatever decision you make, makes you happy and gives you an even better life. You’ve already achieved that by staying strong. New jobs can be stressful to start with, not knowing what could happen in 6 months could be too, but it could be the best decision you ever make. I hope you find it in you to make the right decision. Whatever happens, as long as you stay away from gambling you are winning at life.

Keep us posted, you’ve got allot to consider and it’s nice to be brought along on your journey.

Stay strong 💪

Day 43.

Late night working this eve so a short post from me. A fairly good day but getting the train home from work was not the best as they had missed out the previous one so the next one was jammed for that time of the evening.  Will drive in tomorrow instead as got another evening to do tomorrow. 😕.

All good and no gambling thoughts. 👍.

Good night, God bless all.

Day 44.

Feeling shattered after another late evening at work but it went better than I thought it would so that’s a bonus. 👍.  Had a missed call and voicemail from the employment agency this afternoon, asking me to return their call so hoping it might be regarding news of a potential start date?? Will try and speak to them tomorrow. 🙏.

Good night all.

Stay strong and keep saying “no thank you” to gambling.

Day 45.

Soooooooo ………… After serving 20 years as a Probation Officer, I have finally given in my 12 week’s notice! Last working day will be on 1st August! Was wfh today so it felt very surreal and emotional sitting there all on my own. However, I have already received some lovely messages of support, saying how exciting it will be for me, moving on to a completely new role, practically on my doorstep and hopefully, a whole lot less stressful and never having to work face to face with any more violent and aggressive people, generally being horrible to anyone they meet! So yes, what a day.

I sit here now, with a sense of relief and positivity, of the thought of trying something different. It will be full-time but hopefully, nothing in comparison to what I have been used to dealing with these past 20 years.🤞🙏. Plus, I will be earning extra money, now that I will no longer only be working 3 days so this is helpful in more ways than one. 👍.I do love working 3 days but not in the job I am currently in 👎.  Over those 20 years, I have seen such an increase in violence and aggression. This has been mainly due to an increase in people mixing alcohol with C*****e - often a cocktail for disaster!

Tonight, I hope to sleep well and wake up tomorrow with a new spring in my step and a weight lifted off my shoulders 🤞🙏.

Take care all and remember….. it’s never too late to try something different and new!

So happy for you pinky. Good time to make a change. New outlook on life. Good to get away from the toxic environment of your current job too. I did my last job for 16 years and it was a huge step leaving. I was super excited but as the day got closer I was nervous and doubts crept in. Glad I did it though and I’m sure you will be too.

Hope you slept well and thanks for the comments on my diary. Luckily I feel better today so hopefully that was a one day thing.

Stay strong 💪

Day 46.

After giving in my 12 weeks notice at work yesterday, today I have felt, calm, relieved and optimistic, going into a new chapter of my life! I have had a lovely day with my sister - we walked down the length of the high street and then onto the promenade. My sister treated us both to a whipped ice-cream with a flake in and we sat in the glorious sunshine, listening to some live music.👌. We then walked back to my sister’s and spent some time in her beautiful garden, spritzers in hand. Home now, fed and watered and feeling nicely tired.  Will check in to group chat for half an hour and then it’s cuppa, choc and Homeland. 👌.

Enjoy this glorious weather peops and be kind to yourselves.

Day 48.

Lovely afternoon meeting up with my sister and our friend - “putting the world to right”!! All of which included wine spritzers on the patio. 🤣🤣.

Now chilling at home - Katsu king prawn curry on the go for dinner and then some more Homeland on Netflix. As good as can be in my world right now. 👍.

Stay strong everyone.

Day 49.

Just counting down the days/weeks to me leaving my current job of 20 years. It has become nothing but soul destroying and I just don’t need all the s—t that comes with it. 😔.  Roll on the 1st of August - my last day in the joint. Can’t come quick enough! 🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️🏃🏻‍♀️‍➡️.

Take care all.
