I am back again. I have finally banned myself from the walk in bookies

I have banned on the online gamstop a while back then started to use foreign sites. Tried to close down these sites but they wont guess they want my reckless custom. Now i have installed the gam ban on my phone.

I am hoping this will save me from myself as i cant think of anything else i can do.

Starting again at day 1 i will beat this

Hi

It took me far to long to go to meetings.

Yet best thing I eve did.

By going to meeting I got to understand that by gambling I simply made my life more painful.

Clean days are not lost.

By going to meeting I was abale to abstain from gambling and live  a much healthier life.

By going to meeting I learned to love my self.

By going to meeting I learned to respect my self.

Walking in to the recovery program saved my life.

Healing and peace to all

I don't agree with you Dave, apologies don't mean to upset you or anything

You're quite often mentioning meetings

I haven't been on single meeting gamblers anonymous online or GA meetings in person and I stopped gambling.

I use to bet in some form every day of the year for over 25 years.I thought I never be healed and I always fall into that trap.

But I didn't finally.I don't even thunk about gambling any day at any time. Not interested.

I hate gambling. If anyone offered me to gamble for free I wouldn't do it.I don't have anymore time, money and health to waste with this idiotic form of apparently having a fun.

There is no fun in it.They say many people do enjoy gambling.I don't know single person who does.

I sen few ex friends this week and I spoke to them how they're doing it etc etc Each of them said to me how you doing mate long time no see in bookies.I said to them I quit completely and I never go back to it.You should do it too.

Every single one of them answered me with same reply:I've got nowhere else to go mate I am getting old now.I thought I would say the same thing that this is only thing I know I don't want to do nothing else

We do create that safety bubble when we gamble it's like our own space where we feel untouched for that period of time when we gamble.Once you stop gambling because of lack of finances you want to get some money right away from somewhere to continue to do so.

No difference to crack C*****e

@spottydog well done 👍

I ended up turning to overseas casinos Nd it was a disaster.  They prey on problem gamblers and there is a reason they are not registered and legitimate.

Did you use a credit card?  Just don't. It is a disaster.

Have you spoken to anyone around you about your gambling?  It is really good to get as much support as possible.  Sometimes there are people around us who want to support us but can't because they don't know.

Best of luck and please keep up updated

@spottydog well done on signing up to Gamstop it’s best thing I ever did. I have gambled in person since signing up but the amount of time I have saved to use on other things since no longer gambling online is massive.

Family time at home, going out with friends even just reading a book or spending time cooking a meal. All great benefits for myself and the family.

chin up and go again every day.

All the best

@wbr9jcpn3y

How can you disagree with him when he’s talking about what helped him? He’s not telling anyone to find a meeting, he’s saying that meetings helped him, you can’t disagree with that.

The original poster said he didn’t know what else to do, but all he had done was put blocks in place but there’s always a way around blocks. Dave was giving him an alternative solution, one that helped him.

If you’ve been lucky enough to just one day decide to stop then great for you, but there’s a huge number of people who think Gambler’s Anonymous isn’t for them without trying it, and if someone says there’s no way left for them to try but they haven’t tried GA then they’re wrong. If you’ve truly had enough of the pain and misery that gambling brings, GA is a place where miracles happen. I couldn’t stop without GA, I tried and lost everything to gambling. I go to GA and I don’t gamble. You might not want to hear that it works but I’ve over the last 30+ years I’ve seen people come into GA broken and leave with hope and turn their lives around.
If going cold turkey works for you then fantastic but I’d much rather have the support of a room full of people who understand exactly who I am, and likewise, I can support them into becoming better people, not just stopping gambling.

Chris.

It's simple as this.Us ,,problem' gamblers we do have addictive personality. So it's not just about the GA meeting and tour addiction will go away.If you don't put work into it and don't really want to stop gambling you're absolutely wasting your time with meetings, therapists, rehabs.

I give every problem gambler little solution or idea.Try to replace gambling with something else. For example when you get paid instead of what would you put on gambling spend exact same money (perhaps most of your wages)as that would end up on gambling anyway and buy big joblot of something that you can resell on ebay or vinted and do that. You will love your new hobby and you never waste your money.Thats how I overcome gambling that was part of it.I found something useful to do what brought me thrill and money coming in on daily basis

I completely stopped gambling once I realised is it better to throw your money away every day on gambling and have nothing in return ?

Or buy big bulks joblot of things and resell them and make some moneys?

We always going to be addicted to something let's find something that interests you.

Great effort mate. Sounds like the hard work is paying off. Couldn't agree more about blocking yourself. Why make it easy for us to gamble. To truly quit you need that temptation blocked.

Keep us updated. Great to see you doing well.

Stay strong
