hey oldham, this brought a tear to my eye. its made me realise that my family needs me more that the slots do. it must have taken a lot of guts to talk about what youve been through. well done on your recovery!

Yeah great work fella on your recovery. i am sorry i didnt even get back here after you left a comment on my rather poor attempt of a diary... you asked how i found GA, and so far having been just twice its fair to say im not entirely bought in.... i think and i can see why some people cherish it, and are strong advocates... but im just a little too much of a skeptic i think, and i cant really get my head round higher power stuff, and being powerless ... and the serneity prayer stuff etc.. Dont let me peee on anyone parade ... i dont want to start a huge debate on it... im sure liek i say its for some and not for others. if you get something out of it, go for it. Your recovery is well underway so if clearly does work for you.

DAY 117

Thanks for all the support yesterday went well kept busy mainly drinking and socialising.

Today I'm sat on the bus going to work some lad at the side of me checking out the in plays on his phone at 7 in the morning. That used to be me if be all over the tennis and I know c**k all about it.

Seeing that has made me more determined that I will not gamble today.

Thank you for posting on my diary. I really do appreciate it. It is great to know that there is somebody rooting for me. You are doing brilliantly. I can really relate to checking the in play odds at all sorts of crazy times on so many random sports that I know nothing about yet was willing to gamble insane amounts of money on. No more! Onwards and upwards.

Guess that's cos you're embracing recovery and show honesty in your reflections.

Never did GA but kinda wish I had and it's clearly v successful. I've been following a therapy called ACT which is serving me well.

Hey thanks for the gee up on my diary. Already discovered making a murderer and its pretty outrageous at times is it not. Guilty or not guilty? I have been watching it during my struggling times but thanks for your ideas.

re checking bets on the bus. That was my staple! Then in the office... on lunch break... and then on way home. I haven't considered a sporting event for weeks which is amazing for me. Hope you're well anyways.

Hi Dez, I still can't make my mind up he is then he isn't guilty but o do know something isn't right don't want to say to much, don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it. To anyone reading if you've not seen making a murderer give it ago, it's gripping.

I was the same change checking earliy kick offs on way to work in AUS and China and the like and all day in work hoping for another corner or something. Since I've stopped I'm back as one of the top performers in work already hit the target for the month and looks like I'll be about 30% up by month end on Friday. So no gambling means I win by not losing and earning another 300-400 a month. Why did I gamble???? It can't havd been for the money.

Nice one Oldham! £300 or so extra nicker is good going. Quiting does help with work. Gets rid of distractions. Occupied do much of our time it's just ridiculous.

Just a quick check in. No gambling issue a few other things going Atm my ex has lost her job so it's put a few things on hold as will need to help her and my son out a bit more than planned without her wage coming in. Been helping her to apply and sign on that's changed a bit since the last time I did it 21 years ago what a minefield that is. She's looking for work and has applied for lots in a few days so hopfully she will be sorted soon.

It's not been an easy 10 days while it's all been going on and at times I have taken a bit of grief but for once I'm not totally to blame this time.

Had a good night tonight been to my sons school to pick his options. Wish I was back there now life would be so much simpler but then I wouldn't be taking my son so I can't give that up for a simpler life
