HI all ive been gambling for over 7 years on Roulette.

Tried to stop many many times. This time I'm giving it a really good go.

After losing all my saving this week in 10 hrs. Decided i have to try harder to stop. Lost about 20k this year. MAD or what but when it gets hold you can't stop.

SO this is my 3rd day of not gambling.

Just this morning i found i web blocker program called K9 and it is free for 1 laptop.

you just need someone else to put the password in for you and it should stop you gambling online. i

I hope this helps everyone who reads it. as we all need a little help and mine started on here a few days ago when i rang up and Robert gave me a few tips about stopping.

carl.

Hi Carl

I downloaded that K9 software the other day too, really is excellent (and free, more importantly!). Would recommend to anyone who might need a safeguard in place to prevent a mishap.

Well done on reaching day 3 and best wishes

Andy

Hi Carl,

I remember you've tried quite a few times to stop gambling, but I guess there is a certain switch within us that pushes us on long after gambling stops making sense.

Been there with a loan myself, its taken several years, some of which I've been gambling to really get myself close to being debt free, and I probably had between 15-20k at the peak of my issues.

It can be done my friend, it will be a lot of work, but you can work your way out of this.

Do I remember you having a dog a few years ago? Still wish I was in a position to get one, but the unsociable hours I work and my small flat means that won't be happening any time soon.

All the best

Ryan

Thanks for the support Ryan. I thought I was talking to myself on here. Nice to see someone cares.

Well day 1 today, just been thinking about the money that's gone. Not trying to get it back.

I remember years ago when scratch cards came out I was addicted to them but something stopped me from playing them.

Like u say it can be done. I still have Toby my dog.

Also I didn't gamble my Australia money 2k I'm going for a month in jan. Gonna try and pay 5k off the loan by then. And the other 10 by end of next year.

Thanks again for your support Ryan. It means a lot to me.

scratch cards , weird kinda miss playing them , but for the same reason i cannot ever and will not ever and dont want to ever play roulette again , for the same reason i will not play scratch cards as when i did i know it was getting out of control and i felt the same way as playing roulette . To be honest thinking about playing roulette now honestly and no egsaguation makes me feel sick in the stomach , and im glad about that .

kinda envious lol you going to australia , where abouts you going , ive never been , i had the chance once but as self employed i didnt let myself go as didnt want to loose custom [ money ] , irony and how stupid i feel saying this , i found it ok for myself to blow 1750 in 10 mins , what a f*****g idiot i was , but couldnt let myself loose about the same or a little more for sanity and a 3 week holiday . whats gone is gone , i have learned that i needed to let go of my losses , and in the same way you need to do the same , without doing this you will not stop , i know you have debt , but just call it off the rails debt pay it off ect.. how ever long it takes , but dont call it , i must gamble again and win it back debt as you know what will happen , that debt will just get bigger , hope you have self excluded , and took all steps possible .

All the best simon

PS just to say people on here do care , sometimes sounds bad , but sometimes with that many people on here, some people get missed now and then , ive been in that boat lol thought no one cares gone aout 2 months had no message and then wam got shxt loads , so keep your chin up keep coming on here even post your thought even if poeple dont comment lol, australia hot in jan i think but chat before then , see ya

ps 2 points i forgot to mention, 1st point sometimes it takes a big loss to wake us up and make us smell the coffee and make us realise this time i cant go back to that gambling s**t , so maybe and im not saying its good but maybe that big loss you had recently , just maybe that will help you stop for good and in the long run it may have saved your life aswell as more money [ dont gamble again though , i think we both have wasted enough to realise we need to stop lol ]

second point have you tried asking the bank to freeze ur interest let them know you have gammbled and have a problem and need help they then may just help or see a debt advisor he/she could act on your behalf, all the best

Carl

Fella welcome back, I wish it was for more joyful reasons, but as it's said the doors to recovery revolve,it doesn't matter how many times you walk through it is what you learn when you do.

I hope you put in place some more blocks to help give your rational side of the brain some 'thinking time'

What form of gambling did the ten k loss come in the form of??

With your k9 installed I guess you found your way back into the bookies??

I remember the fobt(my own poison) being a problem for you in the past.

I hope you take a great deal from the forum again.

Abstain and maintain

Duncs stepping forward never back

Hi Carl

Just read your diary sorry to hear you have relapsed but you have done well to comeback here

We cannot win because we cannot stop that is so drastically true once we truly realise this and that we will never even get even again we can move away from this destructive addiction one day at a time we can do it

You will win today by not playing today

Best wishes

Suzanne x

Thanks for your posts.

well it has been a week and a day last tues since i had a bet!!!

This is a long time for me. Just been thinking about the money i have lost. I guess that will stop me doing it. I

i have a bit of money in the bank but this is for my trip to Australia in jan so not blowing that also booked another holiday for next year. The one i just booked i could of paid for with one spin of roulette. Mad crossing my fingers it makes me feel sick to think what i have lost to that cr** over the years must be at least 70,000 in last ten years.

Could have had a better house by now or an audi r8 lol.

Anyway 8 days is a start only got 3 years to pay off the debt (15k) i did in a day NO MORE HIGH ROLLING FOR ME.

all the best to everyone who reads this.

carl. Toby my dog says hi.. too.

Hi Carl,

I've just read your post from a week ago and I believe I might be going through what you are going through at the moment. I took out a 7k loan to clear 3 cards, which I did, I then last night added 1,200 to one of them, 600 to another and 400 to the other one. I just kept depositing 200-300 at a time, lumped on horses, came second again and again, or had a faller or a horse (Favourite) pull up lame, the same old story.

I feel weak today, legs are wobbly, chest pains, all due to stress.

The two of us have got to try to stop now otherwise we'll just get ourselves into more trouble.

I'll follow yo from now on as I can relate to you and I wish you well with trying to come to terms with this problem. I'm sick of it too but at the same time I want more as I feel depressed without it.
