So today is day 2 of not gambling. Still have a long way to go but I am determined to do this.

After my first post yesterday. I received some lovely and helpful comments to help me through.

Yesterday I decided to give all control of my finances to my wonderful supportive boyfriend. This will be hard not being able to have money on me all the time, but will be totally worth it in the end, especially with baby due in 18 weeks.

The longest I have gone without gambling is 3 weeks however I think that was due to not having the money to gamble with. So hopefully this will work even more as he is very stern and will not just hand money over.

I'm very lucky to have him in my life as much as I try to speak to family about it they all gamble aswell this is why it is so hard for me to stop.

Fingers crossed this will work

You must really want to stop yourself. Day 2 is even an achievement for us compulsive gamblers. Im day 11 and its really tough early doors.

Gambling is a waste. You cannot beat the machines or bookies in the long run.

Well done on day two.

Remember that 10 20 30 pound is nappies wipes milk and clothes for your baby.
They don't need toys till about 3 FYI don't spend your money lol

But seriously well done. Your doing amazing. To hand over your money. Control and trust. Well done. Your going to have a beautiful bright future if you continue on this road.
Good luck D

Hi D91.

Well done on making the right choice.

From experience this will be a long hard slog but hopefully you will find it a little easier to know that your money is needed more than others with a little one on the way.

One day at a time. Remove yourself from anything you normally do when you gamble. Serious life changes are needed.

When I came clean to my partner and told her I was in 20k debt, I was at breaking point. I had to sit down and think where I gambled, the times of day I gambled and how I was going to remove myself from that crappy life I built around me.

I was on shifts so used to gamble in the mornings whilst she was at work. So when I woke up I went for a walk without my phone for 2 or 3 hours some days or even went to the gym.

I gambled when I was on my phone whilst in the shower... I used to have a towel hanging over the sink to dry my hands to place the next bet. Just so when I got out and she was there, she didn't catch me.

I used to gamble on my phone whilst on the exercise bike at the gym. So I stopped using the bike and used the tred mill instead.

Everything in my life changed that day for the better.

I now have brought a house, got married and have a new job all because I made that decision that day.

You may win the odd bet but what good is money when you have no friends, family or prospects.

Good luck and STAY STRONG!!
