Morning everybody, hope you are all able to get around safely in the snow,it's good fun for the kids at weekends but not much fun for the journeys to work and school, had to cancel today's job,Today would have most definitely been a trip to the bookies in the past, today I shall be sorting paperwork and pricing jobs, not very exciting, but a lot less expensive! Keep at it everyone, well done!

Glad to see you survived the roof 🙂 Paperwork certainly is not exciting but it's warm & will hopefully have the same effect as a soothing massage knowing that it is done & out of the way!

Welcome to the start of month 2 🙂 Keep choosing 'No' - ODAAT

Good morning to everyone,39 days today, not really had any strong urges for a while now,but it appears I have replaced my gambling addiction with a gym addiction,I know I've been overdoing it as my slipped disc is playing up and my knee is sore too,but I insist on going again,I know I'll be there again tonight,I think deep down I see it as a way of taking my mind off gambling, and if I'm in the gym I'm not in the bookies, which is a good thing.I've also managed to shift the extra stone In weight I piled on at Christmas, but I'm feeling very tired and irritable, maybe I need to join a gym addiction forum as well,Christ almighty!

Keep up the good work everyone, and to those that have had little slips lately, please stay strong and start again!xxx

Hi Blue, great work on your 39 days 🙂

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit blue! You shouldn't be loathe to come here when you're low, you can off load & the support may surprise you!

You need to take it easy training, chances are if your disc is playing up again, it's slipped/bulging & you can't afford to tear it in your line of work! I do get that the gym is a safety zone but I'm guessing you're there beasting yourself rather than doing some simple core strengthening stuff?!? The more you overdo it, the more your body will complain & the worse you will feel. There's no shame in taking it easy, unless of course you're in a gym full of meatheads wearing spandex shorts & a vest! Are you? If so, treat yourself to a pair of tracksuit bottoms, decide what leg your limp is on & get hobbling, straight to the mats with the little old ladies! Is there a sauna/hot tub where you go? Could you maybe just go for a quick stretch tonight & then have a relax? Most of us have swapped our gambling for less strenuous activity & I'm happy to say crack on! Yours is working so I'm loathe to say don't do it but I am worried about you!

Keep strong & look after you - ODAAT

Hi Blue,

Thanks for your message and your support,

Sorry to read you were feeling down last week, I hope you feel a lot better this week, sounds like you might be overdoing it lol, don't forget abstaining can be very draining without us being conscious of it, and different mood swings can happen, but they don't last long,

Anyway hey, 39 days of winning, that definitely is something to be happy about, well done.

Take care, take it easy small steps, soon mount up.

Suzanne xx

Thanks for the replies ladies,I took your advice and gave it a miss last night, watched a few episodes of homeland instead, unfortunately my gym has no sauna or steam room, but it has a great range of low impact cardio machines which is what I tend to stick to so as not to further damage my back.I'm gonna try and stick to going every other night so I can rest a bit too.I need to learn to do things in moderation instead of going gung ho,but I've always been like that, obviously one of the reasons I ended up on here! Take care everyone!xx

Thanks blue,

Good to see you took it easy last night, moderation is not something I am good at either lol.

40 days today, well done.

Hi Blue, how's the moderation going? Hopefully your aches & pains are not so severe!

46 days of winning gamble-wise, nothing moderate about that & rightly so eh 😉

Morning ladies,I've been sticking to the every other day routine,so far so good,I actually had a day last week where I didn't have a single thought about gambling,I've not had any strong urges for a while, but I still think about it every day in some form, however, this one day,not a single thought. So that for me is a new moment to celebrate,I hope you are both keeping well and enjoying life, take care!

That is indeed a day to cherish! I know I bring the thinking about it on myself by coming here so often but this is my new addiction - how I wish mine could have been gym related 😉 Glad you've slowed down a bit, hopefully you're not in so much discomfort now!

France is such a great place to go @ the moment: tunnel just costs us the price of the dog as we use a well known supermarket's vouchers & the Euro is really weak. You gotta admit bar football is a little bit out there 😉

Hi Blue,

46 days well done you,

As ODAAT says to go a whole day without any thoughts of any form is really something to cherish and celebrate, it can only make you stronger with your recovery. And that is very very positive .

Take care and keep going

Suzanne xx
