Thought it would be best to start a diary to help assist my battle against my addiction.

4 days in and I haven't placed a single bet. I have excluded myself from all online casinos, however I haven't from the high street bookmakers. I know this may sound silly as part of my biggest problem was the fobts. But I know that if I want to gamble being excluded from the local bookmakers or casino will only push me in to other avenues such as the fruit machines or local poker games. So I am trying deep within myself to have the strength to just say no. So far it hasn't been easy and two days I have walked past the usual bookies that I would go in and I have had the urge.

I was out with a few friends yesterday and my best mate asked if we wanted a quick spin on the roulette. I refused and said I'm not bothering with that anymore. He proceeded and won £60 whilst I continued on to the next pub. He was literally there for 5mins and I thought I could of won too. But had a word with myself and reminded myself why I am staying away from them.

Good to see you have started a diary onwards. Well done on saying No yesterday and best wishes for continued abstinence. Have a good think about the self exclusion, may be a worthwhile block to have in place.

First week over and it's been quite easy some days and very difficult others. Especially as it's furthering away from last weeks losses. But any urges I have to remind myself why I am doing this and the benefits it will have in the long run. The thing is I enjoy it and am addicted I know. Completely surrounded by gambling advertising too which encourages the situation. But I'm one week in. Financially it's a while off before I will see money start building up. But I know it will come as long as I carry on doing what I am doing. What are people's thoughts on playing free play in casino games? Thanks captain for your support. Hope your doing well and getting back on track. Hopefully catch up again in the chat.

Hi, well done so far on your gamble free days 🙂 Stay strong! The feeling of seeing money stay in your account is absolutely worth it, don't waste you hard earned cash on gambling...that's what I say to myself everyday! As for free casino, personally for me is have to stay well clear as I think it would easily make me tempted again and I'd probably think we'll I keep winning in free casino, so will probably win in real money terms...but we all know the story and there is only ever one winner and it isn't us, sadly! But obviously, it's your choice what you do. Perhaps make sure you've 100% got blocks in place etc. Stay strong! Take care C x

25 days has passed and going strong. I have now accepted my losses and moving forward. I have paid £300 off my credit card reducing it down to £4250. A long way to go, but that money would of only gone in the bookies machine. It's difficult and I still enjoy the idea of gambling but keep at distance from it.

In three weeks time today I will be a married man and will have rid of this addiction in to my married life. It's not going to be a breeze and luckily we don't do to bad for money, so gambling is pointless. The debt is going to take time to pay off. But I know once it's done that can always be the reminder of my low point of where it took me too.....
