Thank you Sharon for your kind words and support.

Attended my cousins funeral today. It was a sad occasion for everyone but enjoyed talking to friends and relatives I hadn't seen for some time. We all agreed we would have to get together more often. It was a nice service and a pleasant get together afterwards. I felt Sue was there with us in a way. Well she was certainly there in the memories of her loved ones.

Attended GA meeting tonight which was good and it's 23 days since I last gambled. No turning back now, I am on a mission...stephen

Glad it went ok funerals are horrible things but a part of life . Well done also for attending the GA meeting I would imagine it would have been easy to find an excuse to not to go under the circumstances . That tells me all I need to know right now about how committed you are to stop . Never give up trying to give up !

Thank you Brian for visiting my diary and giving me support and encouragement.

24 days gamble free. It is a great help that my friend is keeping my bank card. However, I get it back tomorrow as I will need it on my holiday visiting relatives.

I have no intention of gambling and will give the card back to my friend after the holiday.

Thank you sjwsjw for posting on my diary and congratulations on 180 days without a bet. Good progress and a great attitude. Determined, resilient and relentlessly forging ahead.

Hello Diary. I am feeling good with a quarter century under my belt.

I have my bank card back today but will return it to my friend in 2 weeks. I need it for my Easter holiday visiting relatives but I feel very confident I can ignore any urges to gamble. At least for 2 weeks anyway.

Hi Stephen, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your cousin. 64 is far too young and personally it just makes me think 'what am I messing about at?' I need to start respecting this life I have been given, start living it to the full and stop piddling about with this stupid addiction. Kick the d**n thing into touch, sort this twisted brain out and get out there!!
Thanks for your kind words on my diary Stephen, you're a true gent!
Take care with that card my friend. It could be a lethal weapon. Maybe put some words on a piece of paper, anything personal to you and wrap the paper around your bank card (maybe your friends name who looks after your card or words that describe how you felt after your last loss or even DON'T DO IT YOU WILL NEVER EVER WIN!)
Hope you don't mind me suggesting this but I know how hard it is for me to resist temptation, I hope you find it easier!
Have a lovely time with your relatives. I look forward to hearing all about it and also to you coming on here and celebrating a month gf!
All good wishes x

Thankyou for your kind words. My daughter still lies in in hospital and she has to be tube fed everyday so she eats at all and she still fights to be tube fed. Good luck with your card and have a nice time with your family.

Thank you for posting on my diary.

Little Miss Lost. I am taking your advice and writing the names of friends (yourself included) and wrapping it around my bank card. I feel quite confident but it is good to have an added deterrent. When I return from holiday I will give it back to my friend.

Christer. My prayers go out to you, other members of the family and your daughter. I really can't imagine what your all going through with your daughter being so unwell. I sincerely hope she can build up her strength and get the help she needs.

With the trauma you are experiencing it would be easy to turn to gambling. I admire your courage in not going down that road and staying gamble free for 53 days.

Sharon. The glittering jewel in the gamcare treasure chest. 375 magnificent gamble free days of courage, determination plus a few laughs along the way. I might be a zillion footsteps behind you but I feel inspired to follow your wonderful example.

Hello Diary. 26 days without a bet and ready to rock and roll. I embarked on this noble quest full of hope and wearing a smile. The smile might fade now and than but that won't stop me...stephen

Hi Stephen, I'm delighted that your bank card has been in safe hands for 26 precious days and counting. And sorry to read that you had to put on your 'black tie' to pay respects to your cousin who has sadly passed. As you've said, it makes us value our own lives even more; how precious our 'stint' on this planet is.

I wonder, do you miss your bank card, are are you slowly weaning yourself off it. My card is in two (literally cut in two); I can use it to buy stuff online (fortunately, online gaming has never really been 'my bag' and, in any case, my mussus goes through my bank statements line by line). Any cash I have comes out of the joint account whch she rules with a rod of iron. It's the only way!

I always wish you well Stephen and enjoying your dairy which has a philosophical air of late; it's reflective, thoughtful and a nice, safe, uplifting place to be.

Hi Stephen,

Sorry to hear about your cousin ... hopefully some positive can come out of it and you will see your relatives more often. Well done on clocking up the days, and take care with the bank card. Not posting as much these days, but always pleased to see your updates, particularly when you are beating the gambling demon.

Have a great time on holiday.

Rich
