Hi Shiny

Thanks for the post and so glad your life is much better than it was a ywar ago.

Agree with the 'nothing changes if nothing changes' phrase. Is my destiny in my own hands, well partly Yes, partly No.

However I have the view that decisions and life routes which one chooses in their twenties set you up for life and whilst you can make changes and make things better for yourself at a later age there are some foundations and definitions which are set in stone. I think there are just so many things you can do in your twenties that are not possible or at best extremely difficult with a different slant when a lot older.

Hey Shiny,

What a lovely surprise you left there on my diary:) Thank you so much xx

Didn't feel too upbeat until now, but, hey girl you did put smile on my face.

Hope all is good with you, and i am very proud of people like yourself, taking huge decisions in Life and facing problems or difficulties head on. Guys like you my dear friend deserve a medal:)

I am sure you will come out the other end and enjoy your life to the full. You are Shiny - with strong personality and a massive heart!

Hugs to you

(((((( s ))))))

Hi Shiny

Read your post on Tomsos diary about different degrees of how addicted we are - totally agree with this and have posted on this before but not found anyone in agreement up to now.

My counsellor told me that gambling was integrated into my life more than anyone else she had known in terms of how much time I spent, over such a long number of years, high amounts of money, determination to succeed, different types of gambling, importance I gave it etc. I targeted 6 months to sort out my problems, she said it would take much longer as it was ingrained and I couldnt see how much of a problem I had. She was dead right, 5 and a half years later and I'm on what I believe is the final step of my recovery.

Many I've read gamble heavily for a year or two, get fed up with it, then decide to stop, they have the determination and will to do so, gambling has not really become totally embedded in their life although it has meant that they have lost money over a period. So Yes for me there are a lot of different levels of gambling problems, addictions, compulsive gamblers etc and I think that should be recognised more instead of just categorising everyone the same. We all need help and support but to varying levels and in different ways. There is no 'one hat fits all' approach.

Hi Hun,

Just checking in with you as I have been so infrequent a visitor recently, what with everything that has been going on and due to my continued recovery. I do always check in every 2-3 days though to read some of my close friends diaries.

Thank for your support. I am pleased to read you are mentally in a stronger place and that patience is something you are learning. I am pleased and I am sure this will continue to be the case, that you will always try to put yourself first more often, before helping others.

Take care shiny one, have a lovely evening. x

Yo,

Week off this week . Going out tonight to a leavers do. Those of you who know me will know that I rarely venture out . Too much noise , too many people .

But hay Ho, can not spend the rest of my days , talking to my plants lol

Life is good , not plain sailing , still waiting for a competition date on the shop , and my ex is playing the guilt card at every opportunity . Although stressful this women ain't for turning .

Urges zero, not that I am getting complacent . My biggest problem was my life. Changing my life seems to be the biggest aid to my recovery .

Not that I think everyone should go to the extremes I have but recovery is bout sooooooo much more than not having a bet . ( well in my option)

Laters

Shiny,

Great to read that you are doing well and have no urges. Your life change appears to be working well for you. Enjoy your night out tonight. Let the hair down and have a great time. Jealous of your week off. I would love that at the moment.

P.S. You need to get into Game Of Thrones. I got the first few discs and it is brill. Cannot beat a good boxset.

Tomso.

"The lady is not for turning "

Not related to a grocer are you Misses?

I like that ..and like even better that you are going from strength to strength and found the key to unlock the prison door...

Posting less is a good thing as it means a bigger life is out there ..
