Day 17- cheers for the well wishes gents.

Finally reached the grand old age of 35! Worked a 7-5 shift straight to footy with the young Uns and home to a lovely meal and a pack of fosters! No chance to gamble again. Quick reflection of the last year round about 8k of debt paid of with just over a 1k of betting debt added. Id consider that not abad effort. Main thing is though-no more hiccups. In 12 months time from now I intend to have another 7k of that paid of leavIng me around 8k of loan to pay by my 37th bday! Alot of hard work ahead but that's my Goal! Although 33k was added to the mortgage that'll be my next target but eh that's a million miles away and lets get back to taking each day at a time! Keep strong folks! Good luck

day 19- like a few people have stated in their diarys they are startin to feel urges now after reaching the 2 wk period of not gambling! Truth and be told I feel the same! Ive picked around 20 doubles or trebles on the coupons recently and theyv all come in! I haven't gambled and need to stick to this! Once I do enter a shop it's like Iv got a magnet inside me that pulls you to a machine! Day 19 up early took the under9s training then got the gym with the wife! Didnt get 5 mins to myself and so no Gambling! Back home for 4 to enjoy Forest lose and watch the golf! I did pick Zach johnson at 80-1 on Friday and was worried when he got to 3rd with no money on him slowly he's gone down the order thank god! Keep up the good work folks!

I completely understand what you say about this magnet of the machines drawing you in.

We just have to make sure that change the word 'attract' to 'repel'.

Well done on the 3 weeks mate! I see you're struggling a wee bit at times with the demons! My advice to you is don't pick any bets in your head. I was doing that at first, predicting scores, doubles, etc. When it comes in it makes you feel even worse and you have to fight your urges twice as hard!!

You're a great member of this site, always giving advice and encouragement! When you're off next week go to the gym or go out running, long walks, read, come on here. Anything at all that will help!!

Stay strong

Ryan

She has commented yes! I feel better in myself I did loose a lot of weight through my bad stages a few years ago through the stress of loosing money! Piled it back on after I got help but back down to a good weight again by keeping myself on a active programme and eating correctly! Good to hear yr positive frame of mind again! Only bad thing with me at present is the waking up and these bad times of the day! One good thing though you can catch up on the diarys I suppose! Take care Becs!

Hey Will

It's really good to hear that you and your wife are putting money aside (that you would have wasted gambling) to go on holiday.. it's things like that that make you realise how wonderful life can be without gambling! I think all of us during our recoveries are discovering exactly what we can achieve by abstaining! It's so worth the fight isn't it? Keep it up mate!

Will,

You need to be aware of the dangers of mentally predicting bets without putting them on. I used to do this about a year ago and it was the single reason for a relapse. I was predicting winners but what does it matter if you lose everything you win and more. I am financially better off through not gambling. I refuse to put myself in a position where I can look at a betting slip. This may or may not be possible for you but I would strongly advise that you come up with some other barrier that prevents you from predicting winners and losers in your head. I am speaking from experience no good can come from this.

Tomso.
