Ps the cards was just a fun game that wasn't possible to gamble on.
Great work so far Rob & your girlfriend sounds like she's completely on board so kudos to her (if she has any worries or questions, GamCare advisors are available for her & all your loved ones too)!
She's a fantastic port of call if you do get urges but I would also encourage you to still give GA a shot. I had a similar 'agreement' with my then other half (now hubby, admittedly in a completely different stage of my recovery) but I ended up abusing it. I blamed him for not saying the right thing (too harsh, too soft, too slow, too anything) & then sometimes never even contacted him @ all if they came on strong enough 🙁

Hey, Rob. Check in, otherwise in going to have to make you listen to Cher for a long time!
Hello everyone.
Still going strong, genuinely haven't felt close to this happy in a long time, I have my first GA meeting on Thursday and not sure what to make of it.
It feels so odd to not have to lie to people and have nothing I'm hiding from my girlfriend/family.
Definitely not only writing so I don't have to listen to Cher 😉
Rob
It's exactly a week since I last had a bet, completely giving up gambling is the only way for me to do it.
It's nice just following sport without worrying whether a bet is going to come in or not 🙂

Hi Rob, Are you going to GA tonight? If you are go with an open mind, listen and be honest. Remember everyone who went was In your shoes at one point, we’ve all had a first meeting we was all nervous and apprehensive and had preconceived ideas what it would be like. I thought it would be all old men in flat caps or all sat around in circle holding hands and that couldn’t be further from the truth. I hope you find the courage to step through them doors, I always say its best gamble I ever took.

Alright Wagwan,
Still going strong?

Hi everyone,
apologies for not writing earlier, i went to a GA meeting last Thursday and it wasn't for me, i have an appointment with my GP on Wednesday where i'm hopeful of getting some one on one councelling.
i had a brilliant weekend, i was at my girlfriend's best friends wedding on Saturday and a BBQ yesterday.
I'm now 11 days since my last bet and feel so much better, i have managed to completely avoid horses by deleting twitter and blocking gambling websites on my phone.
Rob
30 days, buddy. 30 days.
Feel good?
DG
Ah Dave I know exactly where you are coming from my friend. I was exactly the same as you however I am now 31. I have moved in with my girlfriend in a big 3 bedroom house and I can't even afford to gamble now (which helps) by the way. Look at gambling as a fantasy. You're never going to win in the long run! Why do we keep going round in circles? We would be a lot healthier if we just packed it in surely? I keep busy within the house, watch good documentaries and if I get an urge to gamble I used to ring a friend or relative. Being honest with the girlfriend is also a very good start, I'm sure she will support you and then you maybe able to put some long term goals in place! Keep in touch mate, all the best, I also usually go on here daily. This forum helps me a lot. I use it like I'm catching up on Facebook! Trust me it's a great way to stop gambling and support others!

Try not to right off counselling after one session. Give it a while to help you. What was your big problem with GA? Tri
Rob - check in, man.
If you've slipped, you're only human and we are still here for you.
Don't be a stranger and don't give up.
