39 days, 39 steps in the right direction.
Hi Steven, congratulations on 41 Days GF.
Like you my problem was the fobt machines in the bookies, they are very addictive and are the cause of so much misery to gamblers and their families. I say gamblers but that implies a chance of winning which is not going to happen over a period of time.
I particularly liked your post No. 34 on Katiecoo's diary, I think that tells it like it is.
Thanks Abstainer - I cannot claim it as my own though, it was paraphrased from a recent counselling session. Sitting here over 40 days GF I have a clear head and can see gambling for what it really is, and that is no good for me.
Every day I choose not to go into the bookmakers... I make that choice, no one else.... Today I am in control, today I choose to stay GF.
52 days GF today, the longest time without gambling I would say in the last 5 years.
Continuing to be honest with myself, I have no notion at all to go near a bookmakers today. I really feel like I am unlearning that bad habit.
Online I stumbled across a website that gives advice to people who have caught up in the payday loan cycle. I've decided to invest some time and effort in submitting complaints to several lenders I used over the years, as well as getting old bank statements together. Wotst case I get nothing, but this will cost me nothing in terms of £ and could see a return which I can then put towards reducing my current debt.
Stay safe and GF all.
56 days - 8 weeks GF... the longest I've went in recent years.
I don't need gambling in my life. I don't need to give the bookmakers any more of my hard earned cash. I make the choice not to gamble, I am in control.
Affected by gambling?
