I feel very luck that during my relapse i had a moment of  lightbulb. I believe my prayers were answered and i quit and hopefully this time for ever.
I am also lucky that the my gambling problem and relapse did not have a severe impact on my job and family. But how about those who lose their families, jobs, friends and even ended in prison. They are left on their own to deal with their losses…

The gov have legalised this insidious industry and more help should be available. Not just to say gamble responsibly, well they don't say take drugs responsibly - drugs are banned and illegal. It’s just does not make sense to me…

What really upsets me is that the adverts are even more frequent on TV now, and even daytime TV promotes some of the sites, it’s so bad. So many celebs I looked up to are also taking part in the adverts too. I know it isn’t their fault that some people turn into addicts, and it’s our own inability to have control, but it does upset me sometimes.

good luck with your journey and it’s so positive you’ve had a good moment of clarity

The gov likes the tax it receives from the gambling industry not to mention the backhanders that are passed around in brown envelopes between industry chiefs and elected officials

Gambling is also society's dirty little secret it rarely gets mainstream media attention and nobody really wants to hear about it anyway , gamblers like to go about their business in secrecy and online excellently facilitates that

It wont be going anywhere anytime soon in the UK

As hard as it is , it's something you must turn your back on yourself

The fact of life is there are many things we can become addicted to, drink, drugs, smoking, eating are the obvious ones. There are millions of people who can do things responsibly but as addicts we know it can get out of control. To someone who has an occasional drink or bet it is very hard for them to understand how people can get in so deep that their lives are out of control. If I'm honest that was me years ago before the gambling addiction kicked in. I now look at people differently if they are struggling with their weight or whatever as I know it can easily get out of control. Regarding the advertising, I agree it is getting out of control making it look like everyone is having fun and winning easy money when the reality we know is completely the opposite. I also think as a recovering addict we notice these adverts more, but for me know I just look at them with scorn as they are ticking boxes by saying "gamble responsibly" which in their eyes absolves them of all responsibility for people like us who cannot control ourselves.

The government haven't legalised it. It was already legal when the Bliar government deregulated it in 2005. There's no governmental appetite to tighten it up despite the ever more glaring damage it does because every government since has had its snout deep in the revenue trough.

Best revenge is to get your blocks solidly in place thereby refusing to fund yet another super yacht or school fee bill for the gambling fat cats or letting the government pour your money into questionable contracts for their mates.

To sum things up drugs are illegal due to the fact the government cant tax them. On the other hand however the gambling industry (worldwide) makes billions and every penny off that is taxable to the goverment so therefore if the government are making money from it then they wont care about the effects that it has on people. The whole gambling industry is one big huge scam. I could go into further depth about all off this.
