Captain

Firstly, as always, thanks for your honesty in posting your experiences, when it could have been just as easy to have said nothing about yesterday's lapse?

I am a newcomer on this forum so hope this is not speaking out of turn. But think that ANL's idea about taking a breather from gambling is a very good one? As I see it you really enjoy your sports betting and seem set on continuing with it. As you say if you lose anymore, you will be in the gutter of life and there would be no option of sports let alone random betting!!! Setting a break to the start of the football season seems a way forward? You will have this "incentive" in the meantime to stop your random betting on the basis that you might have nothing for the football season? It would also give you a chance to reevaluate your position as to your gambling habit? And hopefully the break and not having a bet might even give you a desire to totally stop all forms of gambling?

Am sure that to nearly all posters on the board, this suggestion might seem absurb, but you do seem to be someone who might see some logic (even if it is missguided) in it?

Curly, Ray

Thanks for posts and support, onwards and upwards. No bets for me until August at earliest.

We will all get there in our own time in our own way and when we do we will find more to do with our lives than spend time looking down on others who are still recovering.

These people think they wind us up or annoy us but I just laugh at them and feel sorry for them in their sad little lives. I think I'd rather still be in recovery than be recovered and spend my life tut tutting at others who are still gambling!

Capt

Enjoyed the chat tonight. But wasn't sure if I might have offended a fellow poster with my sense of humour? Or so called sense of humour! One of the problems as to not knowing how individuals will react when you are posting on a message board?

For what is worth maybe I do have a bit of a "read" on you, to use a gambling term. One thing I am convinced of, is that you will never end up in the gutter. You are too determined to allow that to happen. Despite all the criticism you have received on here, I personally think you will "get there" in the end. Even if you do so in your own time and in your own way.

3 days without any gambling.

As with any time I've stopped before, life is that bit more boring and there is something missing, but I'm not losing money I cant afford to lose and thats the driver.

Yo Captain,

I'm jumping in for the 500th post on your diary mate. The fact that your diary has 500 entries says everything about how serious you are about your recovery.

What i admire about you mate is that you do not shy away from your problem. You are on here day and night in chat or on the diaries chronicling every step of your story.

You may upset some people along the way but for my money you are entitled to as much support as the next man or woman as you try to become more responsible in your gambling. I'd much prefer it if you wanted to quit altogether but i understand that is not presently your aim.

I really appreciate the support you have offered me over the last few months Captain.

Well done on the last 3 days. Keep it going.

Hello C,

Try your best C. I hope you aren't too bored......I found the longer I went without gambling the less bored I became. I'm sure you can do this.......hey, if I can, believe me anyone can lol

Take care and be strong.

Great to get posts from some of my best long term supporters as I pass the 500 posts mark.

Thanks Jeff, Curly and Jasmine.

You guys all appreciate how serious I am about sorting myself out despite my approach being a bit different from many.

Here's to the next 500 posts, by then hopefully I will have made continued progress.

£1,400 in 30 minutes Cap? Are you on the same wage as the Prime minister?
