Nice one 🙂

Whatever you can use to draw strength, use...It's great for 'us' to hear that our support counts for so much in these times of need!

It does get easier, I promise - ODAAT

Day 18

After a wobbly Sat, i'm back into positve mode.

No urges today ,but on the horizon I know that boxing day followed by a Sat are going to be tough times.

One day at a time though, strange i'm thinking like this when really I should be thinking bout having a great christmas with my family.Mother in law coming for christmas today till Sat , in her 90s bless ,plenty of old black & white films to watch I think.

Staying strong Dino

Day 21 three whole weeks.

Looking forward to having a great christmas gamble free.

Christmas day afternoons usually involved me studying form for the big races on boxing day,but not this year!.

Time to concentrate on the family(not sure if they are ready for it?) they are used to leaving me alone to my own devices.Feeling alot better in myself, the mood swings are a lot more stable now, without gambling.

You do forget, or choose to ignore just how self centred you become when gambling, all that matters is that next bet.

Anyway looking forward with renewed optimism ,reached my first goal ,next one the new year.

Wishing all my gamcare friends a wonderful and gamble free christmas Dino.

Hi Dino,

Hope that Christmas Day afternoon proves to be a lot more worthwhile than looking at numbers on a piece of paper, even if your family aren't expecting it! Well done on the three weeks gamble free, one more week and you'll be heading into 2015 with nearly a month under your belt!

All the best

Ryan

Day 26 I think

Not posted for a few days, needed to keep busy, had to get through Boxing day and Saturday without gambling (which I did) now just Sunday to negotiate.

Just want to share an experience.

Went out christmas eve afternoon with my boys and a few friends for our annual christmas drink, without a gambling thought in my head.During the afternoon we ended up in a pub which was showing the racing channel, just previews of the Boxing day races.

All my gambling instincts came flooding back instantly, although safe in the knowledge that there was no sport to gamble on.

I then realized that given different circumstances I would have gambled ,and probably would do in the future.Quite a sobering thought really.

Not sure if it was the drink, or weather it's a just a matter of time before the demons get me again.

Anyway time to concentrate on getting through Sunday.

Staying strong but confused Dino

Hi Dino,

Thanks for your post on my diary mate.

Totally get your feelings about Boxing Day, etc. Just goes to show how fragile this recovery process can be eh....

Keep that guard up, because I think today and the New Year is going to test us both again...

Keep strong and keep posting my friend..

All the best

Day 26

Things gradually getting back to normal after christmas, mother in law gone home, back to work today, pretty boring really.

But do you know what? i'm quite liking it!,gamble free ,no mood swings(well not that many lol) , money in my pocket,no beating myself up over stupid bets.I suppose this is how normal people live, for today this is how I live.

Tomorrow who knows.

One day at a time Dino x

Hi Dino,

Edging closer to that four week mark, great work so far, and getting through Christmas seems to be a big challenge for many people. I was back in work today too, lots of cranky people with sore heads! Not beating yourself up is a good thing, and your confidence will continue to improve the further you get from those gambling potholes in the road.

Here's to a great new year.
