Thank God - child benefit has just come in, £700. It's a good job this didn't arrive when I was on one of my binges. Will give a lump back to Dad when I've sorted out NW, probably Friday.

Debt 1 - £6.5k (friend by standing order) £6225

Debt 2 - £1k (friend, by March this year) £00 paid off

Debt 3 - £2.5k (Dad, when tax comes)

Debt 4 - £3k, Cc

Opening debt: £13,000

Current debt: £11,725

I am pleased to hear you received your child benefit payment at last. I do not think I will get any child benefit payments this year or next because of the government cuts. You should be grateful you have got an interest-free loan from your friend rather than a high-interest bank loan, which I have got hanging around my neck. Also, the loan from your friend will not mark your credit report so you should be comforted by that. Keep going and you will have your debts paid off sooner than you think. Do you have a Debt-Free Day in mind yet?

Well, the loan was £6k, so there's £500 of interest over 2 years - something like 4%. but, yes, I'm v v lucky. Funny thing is, I never expected him to lend it me, we're good friends but have never had any money involvement before, but he said (when asked) that he only gets 0.75% in the bank, so 'why not'?

I hope my debt-free day will be 24th Dec, 2013, the date that the last direct debit leaves my a/c to go to his.

day 102 - no gambling today

£2 in the quiz machine last night, which doesn't count as gambling (according to my rules) but is flirting with disaster. Note to self - cease!

We all have our ideas on what is OK to do in our gambling journey, mine is raffle tickets at a local village fete or quiz evening.

What is really important is to be able to identify when it could lead to an even bigger problem compulsive-wise.

If this happens then...

...CEASE!

Enjoy your evening,

GT

thanks for the bump up. have being off line last few days, my little girl has being poorly.

on the 2 quid machine please be careful, i know they can seem innocent but its what they may trigger in the mind as what else could be "harmless" i know you know what your doing so i wont say any more

any movement from your oh, my oh went very quick when our little girl started to stir. I remember before she arrived we were convinced it was a second boy so when she arrived it was such a fantastic surprise. 🙂

no gambling

Read Baljit's entire diary yesterday. It looks like a wind up to me, but that doesn't detract from the fact that it highlights what we are like as gamblers. Whatever, it was very readable.

Any news on the baby front? Also, you said you have a new job - but you still seem to be getting up at unearthly hours (4am) as if you were still doing your old job. Good luck with it all anyway.

I agree with you about that other diary. In my old days when I was living the "high" life as a gambler, I may have done a diary like this.

No gambling

Spent £100 in Tesco and £100 in B&Q today (my OH has a long list of jobs for me to do before the new arrival, due date Tues 14th Feb). My current balance is now £1,500 credit. Tomorrow I will pay Dad back £1,300 (half of what I owe). He said he'll wait a few weeks for the other half, which will be hard to scrape together with no slack in my budget, but I'll have a d**n good try.

Had half a cigarette yesterday, first P**f since December making 23 f**s in 9 months. Think stress brought a lull in my resolve, stupid thing to do and must stop being tempted when offered. On this occasion, however, better than rushing to the BJ table.

Debt 1 - £6,225

Debt 2 - paid off

Debt 3 - £2.6k

Debt 4 - £3k, Cc

Opening debt: £13,000

Current debt: £11,825

Last gamble: 31st Oct 2011

I made a subtle edit to my previous post in order to remove a specific reference to your employment. The main screen reflects the edit time of a post, not just the original post time.

An expensive day today, but not due to gambling.

My back is hurting, and has been hurting for a couple of weeks. Today it got unbearable. I'm 92.438% sure it's the spare bed I've been sleeping on, 9 months' pregnant wife snoring a lot and up half the night so I decamped to the spare room and the mattress in there is really cheap and nasty - well,a one-nighter basically. So we bought a new one today (to be delivered Thursday).

Also paid £1,300 to my Dad today, which means I've just popped overdrawn a little. Hopefully only temporary.

Debt 1 - £6,225

Debt 2 - paid off

Debt 3 - £1.3k

Debt 4 - £3k, Cc

Overdrafet: £150

Opening debt: £13,000

Current debt: £10,675

Last gamble: 31st Oct 2011

But that's money spent on the right things.

And you should be very proud of this. 106 days ago, you would have gambled the lot away.

But today you didn't.

Well done!

Well done with the management of your debts. They are decreasing week-by-week, month-by-month and you will be debt-free much sooner than you think. You are clearly in a much better financial state than you were when you were gambling. Just think what a mess you would be in if you had gambled for the last three months or so. Keep up the good work and good luck for tomorrow's birth: a Valentine's Day baby!
