Day 52 gamble free....

my urges to gamble since day 50 are massively high, so much so that i spent about 2 hours longer in bed thinking of how to beat them before i allowed myself to get up and ruin everything gained.

My biggest test was trying to relive the pain it causes to remind me of the evil that is too EASILY forgot when things are going so well.

I also have the issue of work drying up completely with my agency to the point of getting just one or two days a week work rather than the previous 6 days a week.

I decided i need a day trip to the seaside to get refreshed and then come back to some serious job hunting for better work opportunties.

The work is out there......but the pay isn't as good as it used to be anymore......which ain't good when you owe so much bloody money......but thats life.........and another great reason to stay on track........because in all honestly i just cannot afford to gamble full stop. if i want to or not........thats the reality of the situation.

2 hours well spent my friend 🙂 You are doing brilliantly & it's good to hear someone saying they can't afford to gamble rather than hearing people saying they want to because they need money!

Hopefully that little get away is on the horizon! Free time is always dangerous, so fingers crossed you find some more work soon to give you something to focus on!

Keep @ it - ODAAT

Thanks ODAAT - spent a day in Hastings then onto Beachy Head then Brighton and was great to get away even for a day - even better i usually end up gambling in the arcades but somehow i managed to find shops to look in and the beach instead.

Now i can get on with the job hunting......... everything is so low paid.........they want blood for pittance lol

Think i going to have to take another pay cut just to secure some work.........the more spare time the more money you get through and thats without gambling.........

Anyways day 54 reached.

Hope your well my fellow comrades.

My diary...day 71 - circumstance had it i by default i visited a greyhound race night followed by a casino in the same day and both

places once a guaranteed ruin for me, did not result in a single bet, even if such circumstance went without a slight sweat on.

I managed to stay true and not be done in........at such a crucial point.

I will do my best to ensure i don't tempt fate in such dangerous area but it was almost unavoidable without creating a social parade so i stayed strong by attending and not participating and instead enjoying a fine spirit of my choice as my pleasure.

(i will add normally on greyhounds there is such a bet called a jackpot bet which is a cumalation of 6 races and the requirement is the near impossible task for getting each winner without fail of every one of the 6 races correct to win the large jackpot sum)

as this ticket costs just £1 and takes several hours to watch it play out........i justified this as entertainment and not a restart of my gambling or a breach of my days gfree........i can't gamble as once i start i can't stop but this piece of entertainment at £1 would not constitute of such a cycle as it is just an entertainment level and a mere £1 spread over 6 races so <0.17p a race so to speak.

I would have done this £1 and not felt bad or that anything was ruined..............however fate had it that the particluar greyhound meeting i went to had insufficient races on that night to enable such a bet to be placed ........so any conflict of interests some may say arguable, could not be an issue either way.

Yet thought i should log such a grey area - for my own piece of mind.

Great work choosing 'no' but close call with that £1 thingy! I'm chuffed for you that fate intervened!

Congratulations on the start of 11 weeks 🙂 Keep going strong - ODAAT

so you think that £1 is a fail ODAAT had i done it?

Be Honest,

I don't as it is just entertainment the same as i play quiz games like pub landlord on the pub game machine and spot the difference and it is different to gambling for money.

But maybe i'm wrong and had i done that it would cause a conflict and lead to a downward spiral.

Maybe my brain is trying to defeat me in a sly way and i need your guidance here at gamcare to point me right.

i think that if it is even causing such a debate in my own mind that maybe if it presents itself again i should not do it anyway just for argument sake....................i would hate such a small occurance to shadow such hard work of 71 days gamble free..........

maybe i have answered my own question and like you point out, that fate has saved my arsse......this once by the skin of my teeth.

?????

Regards

Wayne

Seeing that I still do the lottery, I don't think I'm qualified to advise you but since you ask, I feel I need to justify myself...It just felt like as I read it, it was the same type of gambling that had dragged you down! So many people that slip blame it on the 1st bet because once the run is broken it's game on. But this is a bespoke recovery & there are not separate day counts for those of us who are just blocking out one type of poison. Part of me thinks a quid for a night is the same as a ticket for a raffle so it doesn't affect the day count but I'm twitchy because it's what you know! Mr Gamble had a shot @ sucking me in recently with the lottery which has never 'excited' me the way my usual gambling did...After a win, it spent time trying to convince me to play harder which both shocked & appalled me! In short, I would not expect you to reset your days had you gone for it but I would be very wary in your shoes & don't think I'm the best judge!

Hopefully someone else will post too!

In any case, keep strong - ODAAT

Thanks ODAAT,

I think i will refrain from this grey area and simply not participate in such a bet period.

Only yesterday i visited a pub and they had a quiz on that they dragged us into for £1 per player.....it was general knowledge and a good laugh...........however the host of the quiz then came round with a suplimentary game of higher and lower with a £400 jackpot and asked for a extra pound for this...........i naturally declined.........which confused the host as he said only quiz participants are allowed to enter the card game and i was eligible if i wanted a go............again i politely declined....

although it is difficult in such situations as you look like a tight aarse but a line has to be drawn.

I think it is best for me not to do anything at all...............that way no justification is required as it could lead a bad way.

Regards

Wayne

(been up since 11am and did my first night shift today ever in new job ------so off to bed soon as been up 21 hours lol)

Decided to give up drinking any and every type of alcohol until my birthday as a extra test of will power...........

Since giving up gambling i have noticed i drink more and much stronger alcoholic beverages/spirits so i don't want to swap one addiction for another so to prove i don't need to drink i won't ......

Coca cola - here i come....and j20 etc...
