Day 1

My name is Andrew and I am addicted to gambling

I'm doing this to try and force myslef to stop this time, Im hardened gambler of 30 year, who has lost partners, houses and relationship with gambling yet every month despite best intentions I still continue to limit myself to basic lifesytle as gambling as tight grip on me.

I dont really know what my plan is yet but Ive made a plan come here every day reply to at least 5 other posters and just post a daily update on im doing

So Since Christmas My Gambling has taken a real hold me, Ive been a severe addict for many years but have managed to find ways to limit the damage before then, since then I have had some large wins and bonuses which have turned out to be the worse the thing that has ever happened to me as it seems to lit a fire inside of me which means I can only really match that level of craving for the first 2 or 3 days after I get paid. Im now skint for another mont

Hi Andy today is my first time in my life that I have beaten gambling for last 16 DAYS

I tell you that it's much easier to stop gambling for good then you ever think

I use to gamble for last 22 years on daily basis, slots, sport betting, horses, arcades you name it

Try to put yellow stickers on the wall in your room every day that you don't gamble.Write the date on it,day, total hours and time that you don't gamble.

That really helped me.I can say that's the best therapy that there is.After 16 days not gambling I still owe lots of money to people it doesn't go just like that but I can afford to buy so much food even from pennies that I have left.

For example bag of potatoes in lidl this week cost 19 pence.2 Kg of potatoes.Meal for 3 days.Shop for bargain food at the moment and take gambling out of your life ASAP

Gambling has completely ruined my life too I lost my long time partner, house, friends etc etc.

And exactly as you said it really affected me since last Christmas too veey badly, therefore I decided to stop in January and February which was unsuccessful because I didnt had any plan in place.

I have stopped gambling from 20th of Marcg which was my last day that I gambled when I lost money that I had left for food for a month

Take care

Hi Andy.  I identify with your post.  Gambling his a very, very, very hard addition to kick.  But well done for coming here and posting.

Can I ask what is your form of gambling?  I gambled online.  I too hit a few big wins and this was the worst thing that ever happened to me.  The stakes got higher the deposits got more frequent and of course it's just maths at the end of the day... I lost.  I managed 32 days GF but then fell off the wagon.  I have been chasing losses recently.

Loosing sleep gambling.  Turning to non UK sites (bad idea).  I win then lose, then lose more of then deal with the fall out of how stupid I have been.  The 'if only' running around my head.  'if only I had cashed out' or 'if only I hadn't reversed the withdrawal'...  Even better 'if only I had never gambled in the first place'.

Keep at the recovery.  Well done for admitting you have the issue.  Keep coming back to record your journey ?

Hello, keep moving forward, you will win the battle,it is possible though hard,of all our goals, remember the first in the list is not to gamble, because if you gamble all your goals will be meaningless.

My case, after my starting and failing so many times,I still believe I will win this battle, lastly I managed to be free from gambling for 39 days, then I gambled,I think I had stress in my mind,I lost about 40 us dollars,I am recovering this amount in certain way.

Am starting afresh this journey, life is full of battles, among them is this one,I will come here daily to post as you said, this helps a lot to stay on the track.

Day 1,let's keep moving, good lucky friends
