Ok Folks, my first week, gamble free, I consider it an anniversary, hard fought....but I'm there....after 35 years of gambling, it feels like that lead brick, holding me under, is being shaved layer by layer.....aaahhhhh, to be free!!!!

2.30am and normally I'd be watching the dreaded wheel go round or battling someone with cards, bringing out the worst side of anyone's personnality! Now installed my gamcare account on my phone, so I can log in and get the support I need by reading success stories! Thanks Suzanne!

Well....2 weeks, 14 days, still clean, even had some of my own cash (£10) this week that actually made it home and onto the worktop for the wife to put safely away! Not a single urge to see if I could make it into double or a grand! The thoughts of 'i've done it before...many times' but you know what, when I did do it, it only went back! I have finally realized, I'm feeling free!

Ironically, I have even cancelled my online national lottery subscribtion 2 weeks ago...of course it's taken out monthly (between £140-£180 a month I used to spend!) so I've paid up until the middle of March, I've had the same numbers from the first day the lottery started, still have the first day ticket!...Well, I got 3 numbers on Wednesdays draw, £25...it hasn't tempted me to reinstall the direct debit, I realise I'm gambling on a dream, I've spent tens of thousands on the lottery and possibly won 20 times in all the years....besides all the scratch cards and lucky dips I used to buy with any spare cash I had (normally after a win at the bookies or casino...so speculated to accumilate, but never won anything!) so that will be my last ever win through gambling, I almost feel guilty that I hadn't got the direct debit cancelled before, but it was pre paid and I decided 2 weeks ago, that was the last time, forgetting this had been already purchased!

Anyway, job done, going out for dinner today, feeling happy and free....keep logging in people, sharing through our thoughts and experiances is the best therapy I've ever had!

3 weeks! Everyday is a milestone, writing it big & clear on my blackboard that faces me everyday in my kitchen....had a £3600 vet bill this week which was painful, the thoughts went through the head of gambling to win the money, but that was fought off!!!! It's hard, no one ever said it would be easy but together we can break this cycle and beat the demon! Keep me posted on YOUR success stories!

Alls good here, but my wife says I'm grumpy! It's like going cold turkey, but I'm determined to beat this this time...37 days now, getting to that stage of actually dreaming about the roulette wheel and my numbers dropping in....it's been embedded in my brain for so long, it almost feels 'normal' to be there! It's a battle I must and will win...I think this is the longest I haven't gambled for 10 years...so onward and upward! Be possitive, we will come through it!!!
