Hi Diary,

Day 23

Firstly I hope anyone that reads my diary doesn't think I am some super fit bionic granny!!!!!!

All my fitness comes from taking my service users to activities I hope will be good for them and they will enjoy...........In my alter ego...guess I am bit of a slob...like a beer....bit of junk food....smoke too much....drink more than is healthy.........and did I mention I am an ex compulsive gambler!

Well down to business........Swimming...forget it, member of staff pulled a blatent sickie.......leaving only myself and 1 other member of staff....so consequence....we couldn't hit the pool. My service user had a complete paddy, tried to attack 2 other service users and me! Whilst we can't accept bad behaviour I can understand his frustration! Really wish the management would get some ba**s and do something about staff pulling sickies......Grrrrrrrrr!

Have sorted our xmas party out, deposit paid.......why no-one else bothered beats me

Spent ages typing and it didnt show up....grrrrrr

Know how Rach feels now!

Would like everyones thoughts on ADHD and compulsive gambling. As a child I was taken to the dotors and given medicine to calm me down....seems like it would be classed now as ADHD. After reading lots about comp gamb I found a few articles about the link between the two. The more I read about ADHD I'm jumping up and down shouting "oh my god thats me to a T" everything kinda fits into place. There is treatment out there for ADHD this increases your dopamine levels.......we are all aware about dopamine and gambling. Is it worth going to see my GP..........would love to hear everyones thoughts?

Womble........wearing flat cap and monicle tonight! xx

Keep up the good work sue.

But i dont think they anylink. Gambling is an addiction an illness. But just because your hiper and have adhd doesnt mean your more likely to be a compulsive gamble

hey Sue...

blummin computers eh?

Interesting post there and not sure what to think but i do think that there may be some links to other things yet to be discovered with addictions...

Just as an example I am a firm believer now after 20 odd years that alcoholism is sugar addiction and linked with diabetes in families...just in my own humble..so who is to say that we may learn more about gambling in the future in a biochemical way?

It is interesting you say ADHD and am not sure about the connection between impulse control...I don't know if you saw RCG post on ASK wondering about an OCD connection and gambling ? and the moderaters response....

On many occasions I did wonder if my ex was on the autistic spectrum ..but that idea came from the lack of empathy as he could feel for "him" and his own pain but could not put himself in anothers shoes.

I have a feeling that was just him and certainly not a set in stone character trait for CG.s...who I have always found to be highly sensitive people ..moreso than myself.

It may be worth having a chat to the GP....inn my line of work...fish oils and omega 3 and the mineral magnesium play an important role in calming the brain and improving concentration...In my genetic family we also have an omega 3 deficiency..which is why me and birth mother are dyslexic and we have a history of inflammatory illness's.

perhaps as boro says its not set in stone but i think as with any addcition ,illness or compulsion there is no one cause and more likely to be a combination of factors ..such as biochemical, genetics, conditioning and enviroment all being out of kilter that can tip the balance...

hugs

R and D xx

Hi Diary,

Day 24

Thank you Boro and Rach for your input.....much appriciated, especially Rach....knew you would give me food for thought.

What made me sit up and take notice was the facts in the article I read. It talked about people with ADHD had been found when tested to have low dopamine levels and gambling was a major way which increased the level hence they often became compulsive gamblers........the treatment they suggested increased the dopamine level. Anyway , whatever the connection, if there is one has given me something to think about. Also it said that they were more likely to become alcoholics and drug abusers!

Anyway enough seriousness........work today....service user did my head in....wouldn't leave my side all shift...........love him to bits, but wanted to scream at times! Couldn't even go to the bathroom!

Looking forward to x factor final tonight........If I can sit still long enough lol

Come on James!

Sue xxxxx

P.S. Excited about my physic fair tomorrow, Fill you all in tomorrow or Monday!

Hi Diary,

Day 25

Du De Du De Du De......................drum roll

Physic Sue here.........lol

What can I say but very interesting afternoon!

Saw two "physics".......on both my dad came through.....to be fair was quite freaky....told me things about him that no-one would know!

People can believe or not....I always say each to their own.............I was not a particular believer or non believer but after this feel a little shell shocked..,....Was told lots of things....All I can say is from 2013 my life is gonna be amazing!!!!!!!!

Apparently I am an "earth angel"....totally freaked out when I googled......what did I find "earth angels are prone to addictions!!!!!"

I was told the same thing by two physics!!!!

Feel a little "weird" at the moment!

Anyway....My name is Womble....I am an ex compulsive gambler!

Back to normal diary tomorrow!

Hi sue

Interesting and freaky sum up ur afternoon and yes each to their own , I would agree with u though and ur thoughts , its a topic that intrigues me a lot but no way would I go to one as I know that would dictate on life from that point onwards

2013 is gonna be a great year for us both but ultimately only we can make that happen but with each others support we will get that happiness and balance in life we both strive

And psychic or no psychic we both deserve that until then lets just keep doin what were doin

Take care
