Dean & Balvaird, I could not agree more with either of you. Every recovery path differs. One thing does not suit another. If a person feels they need to abstain from every element of gambling - so be it, but they should not judge me and tell me what is right for me.
I believe forums don't get a lot of long term abstainers as I am sure it can be frustrating. I think most have worked a program and know what it takes for long term recovery but it is not always welcomed with open arms. A lot of people come on here broken and lost. I don't think it is meant as judgement as much as help from experience. "Nothing changes if nothing changes". A mind that has been ravaged by years of addiction is not always the best mind to take you to recovery... It needs some help.
As always I wish all on this path (both sides of the fence) strength and courage.
Cathy
When you get what you want in your struggle for self. And the world makes you king for a day. Just go to the mirror and look at yourself. And see what that man has to say. For it isn't your father, or mother or wife whose judgment upon you must pass. The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life, is the one staring back from the glass. He's the fellow to please, never mind all the rest. For he is with you clear up to the end. And you've passed your most dangerous difficult test, if the guy in the glass is your friend. You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum and think you're a wonderful guy but the Man in the glass, says your a b*m if you can't look him straight in the eye. You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years, and get pats on the back as you pass, but your final reward will be heartache and tears, if you've cheated the man in the glass
Great post, right now i have cheated that man in the glass, I have cheated all, but especially myself. I need to find myself, find what I want and turn my rubbish life around. Cheers for the thought provoking post.
Hi guy's, just like to add , If it work's,it works , if it doesn't try a new approach ?. But just keep trying !
Best wishes to all ...........................Alan
I agree Alan. Many can gamble or gamble for fun. Good luck to them.and if you can't keep trying to stop. For those few who have an addiction to gambling, they might have to keep trying more so.

Hi ya, back safe & sound just as the car turned into a pumpkin š
Had a fab evening...Thanks for the invite & the hospitality š Too tired to do the evening any justice now but I will get some words down on paper soon!
What hump? Are ya on about the bumps in this journey we get? š
Of course we are all good people...we only made few mistakes along the way, but at least we try and make amends..i guess in order to mk peace with the world, I have to start with myself first.
Not gonna jump in a car and wait for the meeting to open (i prob would b waiting for more than one sunrise anyway, since even the strongest recovery followers of GA has their own families and support to share behind closed doors)...but you know what i mean here....i will suck it up, let fear, anger, resentments go and maybe just maybe i can make a change for better or worse. I guess me throwing teddies outta the pram (as dear Sesuo kindly pointed out) is not helping neither me or any other soul in recovery. Maybe time to grow up huh вĀŃ
Your support is always appreciated. I am jealous for many qualities you have, but you know what, now i read my new article, i see what its actually nothing to be jealous about, because you're just open book i can proudly say i learn from š
Very Merry and Calm Christmas to you & yours. May peace and smiles stays with you all year round.

& after some more thought and re-reading my post (with all the mistakes included) i wanted to add..
..i don't know what you went through in life, you don't know what i went through but what brings us here together is the same goal...the same desire to forgive ourselves or others, to put things right, to give ourselves a chance in better life ahead...recovery, my friend, is definitely the right start in this journey & am very happy to walk alongside you.
Things will not heal themselves over night. I know that, but I'm ready to try once more and work recovery as i should of for a long time (no regrets...it's never to late š )
Phewww..that's me, i honestly feel a lot more peaceful now...miracle or what вĀŃ
Have a lovely family Xmas Dan, and thank you for watching over me.
