Now that's interesting post. 12 steps in simple words.

I was raised to believe in God. Now.. that got a little complicated in time when it wasn't there when i shouted my guts out for help (when things was out of my control)...it's hard to believe something higher than yourself when you being let down on more than one occasion.
I guess i take it all out of contast here :-/...
I remember Rach saying her HP was a ....ohhh...one of the singers i forgot the name lol.

Ultimately, i think that we hold that HP within ourselves...it's all in our minds...thank god we are not terrorists, else we would b concentrating on really bad vibes.

Anyway, just my thoughts..today my HP is fresh air to go out and take some in ;-)..i hope that counts .

No need to reply, we are all have different views, but whatever works for one - progress being made.

Amen.

Now that's a 12 steps I can relate to.

Without wanting to start a debate about higher powers can I ask a newbie question? Can the "power greater than yourself" be the GA group itself ?

Thanks. LB x

I don't want to speak for others but my understanding is some use their GA group, GA as a whole or all types of support together.

Yes LB. It would probably be the most common HP for those beginning their recoveries. It can be anything just as long is it is not oneself. The reasoning behind it not being yourself is putting you in charge of your recovery is akin to putting the fox in charge of the henhouse!

Dan,

One word for you - Thank you.

Yep, psychodynamic therapy is what I've pumped towards. Thanks for the inadvertent nudge.

I wish you well.

Two quick things today. Lots of time & effort put into replying to one particular thread today. Maybe support & advice would be better directed to those in genuine desire for it. And don't even start me on genetics ;-

I thought recovery is about support? ..& since you "crac ked" it long ago, why not to help others in more of the need?

You prob never relapsed (very pleased for you) & don't really get what happens to the person's mind during that time...keep the mind open dear Dan, but see others pain/frustrations/ hopelessness from that big chair ya sit on .

Just my observations about your "way" of supporting others. Same hat won't fit all.

Like you, day@atime, it's time to help those who want to helped. Although, whilst incredibly frustrating, on reflection I have found that being involved in "the" thread today has only strengthened me. It has helped me understand how I must continue to act - i just hope hat I never get to the point of not facing the challenges of recovery and what I must do to get there. Just hope we ALL achieve recovery.

Hello, Dan,

Where does genetics come into it? You mean whether the CG's offspring will copy? I really, really want to keep my head in the sand about that, thank you. It's just fine there.

My husband's parents weren't CG's or addicts of any description. And of course my children will copy grow up my example and not his. Won't they?

But of course we're not starting you on genetics.

Take care,

CW
