18 Sep - Day 1
Join forum from March, I tried many time but still failed. My finance situation gone bad, and I did a few really bad thing to get money. Keep getting demotivate bcs of my current work = > use Gambling to escape => hurt myself more
I really need to stop. I confessed to my wife twice and made her feel really upset. I still did gamble after that 🙁 I stopped from yesterday, but still access to the betting site 10 times today. Luckily I manage to not top-up money and keep falling
Hopefully I can be stronger and stronger everyday and fully get away from this monster

Hello ChandlerTr91,
Thank you for sharing your reflections from your journey so far.
You seem very motivated in wanting to change and have also taken some steps already to start the change cycle for you, away from gambling. Well done on sharing with your partner and opening your recovery to her – I understand it can be a difficult time right now with emotions being overwhelming for both you and your partner. However, you have taken the initial steps in reaching out and making the decision to quit gambling, I encourage you to hold on to these positives and take each day at a time to address one thing at a time - and in turn you will get stronger and stronger everyday as you have shared.
Recovery is all about making gradual progress over time however it can be easy for us as human beings to be hard on ourselves when we can’t change everything all at once. In your post you share that the cycle consists of demotivation from work -> gamble to escape this feeling -> hurt yourself as a result of this. I am wondering what you mean when you say you ‘hurt yourself’?
Please know that we are here to support you and you can always contact us through to our helpline to speak to one of our advisers for debrief on the situation - space to go through this together with someone. Our helpline is open 24/7 and you can contact us via call on 0808 8020 133 or go through out website and chat to someone. If you feel unsafe please call the Samaritans on 116123
You partner can also separately reach out to us through the helpline and we can provide affected other support for her too.
Best wishes,
Brielle

I personally found blocking software a great help with my addiction. Ive been on the journey for many years and I've relapsed quite a few times - Ive been clean 5 months now and the urge to play has long gone. With the blocking software I literally cannot access the sites.
With my addiction I struggled to let go of it - Desperately wanting to find any reason to keep playing but deep down I knew gambling couldn't be a part of me anymore.
Would recommend seeking support through Gamcare. They might be able to signpost you to some good ideas.
How can i stop all the text messages without changing my number tried blocking and everything but random gambling texts come through and it sets the urge off again

Hello kc33,
I'm sorry to hear that you are continuing to experience gambling messages coming through to you despite blocking these operators. We recommend using online software blocking apps, such as GamBan and GamStop. This will prevent you from accessing all licensed gambling businesses in the UK, and will also mean that you do not receive any further direct marketing messages about gambling for the whole period of your exclusion. You will find more information on this on or website through the Main menu -> Recovery toolkit -> Blocking software
If you do need further help and support on this, please know our helpline is open 24/7 and you can contact us via call on 0808 8020 133 or go through our website and chat to someone.
Best wishes,
Brielle
