I've just had to do the hardest thing I have ever done, I've had to tell my mum and dad about my gambling addiction and of course with them being my parents they have told me they will support me 100%, I hope i don't let them down.
I told my partner about it in november, told him the debt i was in so he paid it off for me and I promised him it wouldn't happen again but here we are now in February and I'm back where I started in november, in the same amount of debt i was in. I have let him down so badly i hate myself.
Today is going to be a new start for me
You’ve made the biggest and best step in telling your parents, well done!
They’ll help massively in your quest to steer clear of the evils of gambling.
Your life to freedom starts today, Shaz2603....
Have a good day!
Hello Shaz2603
I saw your post on MrLiam's thread and I just wanted to say well done for taking the step to tell your family about your addiction. That can't have been easy. As you say, you've been in this position before and it sounds like your partner clearing your debts wasn't enough on its own to stop you from continuing to gamble. The good news is that there are lots of positive, practical steps you can take now to make it harder for yourself to gamble. There's also a lot of support available for you to help you understand how gambling has come to be such a problem for you and also to help you change your thinking about gambling. Why not start by giving the HelpLine a call on 0800 8020 133? Or if you prefer you can chat 1:1 to an Adviser on our NetLine.
Best wishes for your recovery,
Deirdre
