Another week, another day where I won't gamble.

GA tomorrow and my first counselling session on Wednesday. Feeling positive 🙂

Day 30 GF today. This is now equal to the longest I have gone without gambling in the last 11 years. Went out with my partner yesterday for dinner and paid for us both which was a great feeling. Nothing hugely expensive but something very simple that I've not done very often because of gambling and it felt good. One day at a time...

Haven't posted on here for a while, but still contributing to other threads, still attending GA and still gamble free! Day 74 today which is by far the longest period of time I have stopped gambling for in the last 12 years.

At the weekend I had a big day out with my mates involving lots of alcohol. This is always an annual day out and with me even a tiny drop of alcohol seems to lower all my guards to gambling. Alcohol and gambling seem to go together like salt and pepper. But I'm delighted to say I got through the day without gambling. I gave one of my mates my wallet so I could only get money for drinks etc when I asked him and even with that block in place, I didn't really come close to wanting to gamble all day. I feel like I've got it under control for the first time, because I genuinely want to quit for the first time. But I know the mind can play funny tricks so I'm treating every day as day one and refusing to give this addiction an inch because that's all it needs to start worming its way back in.
