This forum is great to keep writing in and take your mind off that feeling of betting, and thanks for the reply to my diary.

You have obiv found somebody that your happy with now and thats a great incentive for you not to gamble anymore, just think of something so stupid ruining what you have now in your life, lose money and lose your girlfriend, or keep your money and keep your girlfriend, and be happy for the rest of your life! I know the option that i would choose.

Keep going and keep being strong and it will keep you happy in life!!!!! 🙂

Morning Jeff,

Thanks for your post on my diary. Used to play off 1 handicap in my youth, but I lost contact with golf because of my gambling and reclusive behaviour. It's nice to get back out there and I'm going to use it as an extra motivation in my recovery.

Keep fighting jeff, its going to be worth it,

DT.

Hi all

I Have a question and would like to have your opinions on it .

Free fantasy football and free competitions where you can win money or prizes. Are they classed as gambling? There is no wager but a prediction and a prize look forward to seeing the answers thanks Jeff.

No i don't see that as gambling, its free your not using or wasting your money, your not gambling anything! its just a bit of fun.. nothing at stake as if you lose your not losing yourself.. if you win its a bonus 🙂

Morning jeff,

Well done for yesterday, saturdays are by far the hardest day, had a few bad ones myself in the early days. Enjoy the beer and the football, nice to have some money to pay for it, you deserve it, well done.

Hi Jeff,

"Free fantasy football and free competitions where you can win money or prizes. Are they classed as gambling?"

Well if you can win money then technically its gambling. But one way of looking at this though is the feel test. Ask yourself.. does if feel like gambling when i am involved in these fantasy competitions?? Do I get a buzz from it? Could it a be a stepping stone to my usual forms of gambling?

For me if it feels like gambling.. then i don't do it.. plain and simple. Regards.. S.A 🙂

I'm a Man utd fan, ouch i hear you say! 1-1 yesterday i watched it was alrite, they had there chances, the red card didnt help though, i enjoyed watching it without the panic of losing alot of money on the game, i like i put in my diary the money i saved during the weekend was amazing. No bets 🙂 £20 spent.. none on betting feels great dont it.

Well another wekend out of the way. I didnt find it as boring as last week,so im hoping each one gets easier. I watched the football but still found myself imagining what bet i would have put on and hoping for a different score and different goalscorer. i kept thinking nothing ventured nothing gained ,but also nothing ventured nothing lost and that got me by.(for the record i would have lost.)

Anyway i find im spending more time with the kids of a weekend.Im sure theyre enjoying me not gambling too. They sure do know how to get that money ive saved out of me lol .Im enjoying this gamble free life. Its hard work sometimes but its rewarding.

Hi jeff,

Keep it going, the urges do subside, it does get easier. It's such a massive change in behaviour to watch sport without gambling on it, but interestingly it's a whole lot cheaper.

You are more than welcome to carry my bag when I hit the big time. Word of warning, my language is fu*king terrible.

Keep on keeping on jeff, you are doing great.

DT.

Hi Jeff!

Thanks for the post mate, it really made sense, i'm naive to think that i'l stop thinking about it after 4 weeks. I mean, its been the number one thing on my mind for the last 3-4 years so why would i just stop thinking about it? I think i needed a reality check! I see you had a similar experience at the weekend with the footy results but the good thing o your part is that when you had the urge or thought, you automatically started thinking about how good it is not to gamble and start spending it on the kids.

I really respect you Jeff, you always seem very level headed and look on the positive side. I think thats important when recovering from an addiction because it doesn't always go as smooth as you think.

Well done on your recovery, i'm following you every step of the way!

James

Hi Jeff

Great to see you are keeping on the right track, really pleased for you, hope it continues for a long time to come.

Thinking about what scores etc you would have picked cant hurt you, and to think you would have got it wrong anyway can only spare you on and make you even more determined. All the best mate you are doing well.
