Hey everyone,

Thank-you so much for liking and reading my poems. I hope to write many more as they come to me. Last night I had group therapy class. We've been working on are own personal gambling history to share with the entire class. Last night I shared mine. It was a very emotional evening to go through how it all started for me, and how it took me down. I talked for a good 45 minutes about my experience, and how I ended up becoming a compulsive gambler. I finished up my thoughts by reading my three poems I wrote. After reading the first two, and getting ready to start on the "My Angel" poem I broke down. I handed that poem to my classmate sitting next to me, and asked him if he'd read it. I had a feeling that would happen after talking a lot about my father and how the last thing we did outside of his house was going to the casino. Not long after that he had a hard time going from the first floor of the house to the downstairs. As his cancer progressed rapidly over the following couple months until it took his life, we never got to do anything outside of his house again. Reliving that and sharing that along with the downfalls of my addiction brought the tears out. I feel it's all part of the healing process, and healthy to talk about now that I'am sober. It's been a incredible journey of healing in sobriety.

Hi Mate,

Just caught up with your diary.

You're doing GREAT.

Stick with it and don't let the evil gambling bug make you think you'd be ok to have a 'quick bet'. So easy to do when things are going well, but always leads to melt down!

Keep posting

Keep it going CG.

Tanks for your kind post on my diary, and well done for not gambling on St Pats day.

It's all a learning curve I guess.

Small steps each day builds our strength in recovery. The future will be sooooo much better for us all if we learn from our mistakes.

Keep strong my friend.

All the best

MW

(SURRENDER)

NO LONGER

WE SHOULD DWELL

WITHIN OUR SHELL

OPEN YOUR EYES

WERE ALL GONNA

RISE

TO A NEW BEGINNING

THIS TIME

I ASSURE YOU

YOU'LL BE WINNING

THIS ISN'T A GAME

YOU PLAY FOR

A GAIN

THIS IS CALLED LIFE

YOU MUST DO IT

WITHOUT BLAME

NOW THAT WE KNOW

IF WE GO BACK AND SPIN

WE MOST CERTAINLY

WILL NOT WIN

THAT WAS OUR ILLUSION

THAT LEAD US TO

MUCH CONFUSSION

WE WAVED OUR WHITE FLAG

IN THE AIR

AND KNELT DOWN

TO SAY A SHORT PRAYER

GOD PLEASE HELP ME

I MUST ADMIT

FOR I CAN SURELY

JUST NOT QUIT

THANK-YOU

FOR ANSWERING

AND HELPING ME BELIEVE

I CAN DO ANYTHING

I SET OUT TO ACHIEVE

Hey everyone,

Hope all are doing well. I had a nice get together with my brother yesterday. Went out for lunch with him and a friend, and ate some great food. We went back to my brothers house and watched some basketball games that were on, and had a few good laughs. Got home late so I figured I'd get on and post. No bets, no gambling, going strong! I'll be on later today to catch up with all.
