There is something that has me wondering over the last 8 months and it's about mental health.
I know all the reasons I gambled over the years and escaped away from life but when I look back, those escapes were because of moments of depression and anxiety. When I came into recovery I experienced high level depression and anxiety for about a month. Surely this means that my gambling was a cover up for my mental health issues and was simmering in the background only to flood back. I thought it was withdrawal symptoms but it definitely wasn't.
This goes to show that gambling isn't happy just taking money and time from us. It's not enough to take away relationships, family and friends. Good characteristics,.drive and motivation. It doesn't stop take take take. Once it has taken our mental health and freedom, it still wants to take one last thing as well.
