Merry Christmas to everyone who has posted to me. Or who has posted on the forum. Although it brings no solace that there's so many of us. It's nice to share with people who understand. And it's good to learn from other's experiences.

I've read this morning a study about a guy who went to ga.
Who was a binge gambaler
His story bares striking similarities to my own.

I'm not sure how much work is out there on binge gambalers
But from what I've read there's a difference between the problem gambaler and the binge gambaler.
And from what I've read on the forum there's a lot of binge gambalers here to.
I would be interested to hear feed back from anyone who has come across it before and if they believe there's a difference.

Have you read the Orange Book? It talks about how periods between episodes of binge gambling are not periods of constructive thinking.

Binge gambling is as much of a problem as any other pattern of compulsive gambling.

On that happy note, best wishes for a Happy Christmas.

Hi Dean0,

Well done on your progress so far, sixteen weeks under the belt is no mean feat?

What you mention about binge gamblers is interesting, I've often found myself to be in that category, with months or even years in between binges at time. Not sure how it changes the ultimate resolution, which is not to gamble, but hopefully you found something there helpful.

Hope you had a good Christmas. Ryan

Cheers Ryan hope you are having a good Christmas to.

I think the reason I'm looking into is more to do with. Why I am like this as a person. Being a binge gambaler sticks out more to me. Than being a pathological gambaler.
It's more about me finding what makes me susceptible to relapse after long periods. And ways I can prepare myself for the eventuality of the said binge coming forward.
It's not just apparent in me as a gambaler. I'll often go on diets hit my key weight then binge eat my way back. Only to start again
Also I can go most of the year not drinking but if and when I do I drink until I'm sick.
So my personality would say I'm highly likely to binge during certain periods.

Is it coincidence that more people in the binge category relapse.
Than do in the pathological category.

You could say I'm looking more into it than there is.
But I would rather have turned a stone over looking for answer's then never looked at all.

Hopefully some of what I wrote makes sense it does to me anyway lol

Binge gambling is the result of peoples desire to believe they are in control. As are all the other things you describe above. The how isnt important but the why is. Your question should be. Why is control so important to me?
I remember when you first came on the forum, your desire to control everything & everybody were evident. You still do it occasionly now. You will notice others desperate to do so as well.

Not a criticism but an observation brother Deano, & , it takes one to know one.

Kisses

Christmas was probably the best I've had as an adult.

I like the person who looks back at me in the mirror again.

I'm happy and I'm alive that's all I need to.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me in one way or another over the past 12 month's
Here's to 2017
