Thanks for the support everyone. All good. Just driven back to London and about to start work. No thoughts at all about gambling. Spent the day getting last bits for Xmas then wrapping done this afternoon. 3 more days of work then that's me done till Boxing Day.

Looking forward to Xmas so much this year as first time in years as an ex gambling addict. Feel good and strong. Good luck to you all. You are amazing people.

hi sadg, greed is one of the seven deadly sins ! when we are not gambling, its value becomes different. We only need it to facilitate something that is necessary in life, other mpore important things like family/children being a good person tpo others takes its value and replaces the devil ! keep it up my friend, darkplace

Day 34

Had loads of expense this last month, not just for xmas. Car cost me £1200, need a new cooker now, Shower pump needs replacing etc. Picked the wrong month to give up gambling. Or did I?

These things are sent to test me to the limit but they will not make me gamble again. I am amazingly calm about it all and just accepting that these things need sorting. Not trying to gamble to win back those expenses, just accepting it. I would never have done that previously.

On reflection I am fully aware that I really did hit my rock bottom 4 weeks ago. I truly saw another way. I had to otherwise I was self-destructing. DarkPlace and TheBear were inspirational to me in the first 2 weeks of my recovery as we supported each other. I owe them both so much for their support. Since then Simmo, Luke, Hugh and JasonTT as well as countless others have given me their thoughts, the strength and the motivation to see my life a different way. I have to stop and regularly thank you all for getting me to 34 days gamble free.

Approx 4 years and 11 months to being debt free. Hopefully sooner.

There will be no gambling today. Stay strong everyone. Best wishes.

Hi Sadg, i know the torment your going through and the thought process ! just one bet will help me with all these debts, but it wont will it ????? keep up the strength and character you have shown and also your honesty, i really take so much strength from it ! i just hope we can get the bear back alongside with us again. your friend darkplace. PS - Interesting if you add a D to bets you have an anagram of DEBTS !!!!!!!!!!!! no coincidence there is there ? whoever invented the language must have known something..... GREED one of the seven deadly sins !

Day 35 has come to an end. I'm still alive and still not gambling no thanks to The Mayans.

Have a great day tomorrow everybody. Best wishes with your recoveries.

Hey sad G sounds like things are going well!

Life always seems to throw these curve balls at times we least need it! Car repairs, shower etc there are always solutions that don't involve gambling!!

So stay strong and keep up the good work! Soon you will really be reaping the rewards of a gamble free life! I am sure!

Day 37

Drove to Northampton today with the family. Very easy drive. Now here till Boxing Day. Sitting chilling out with a glass of wine now. Not a hint of an urge to gamble. This is all about family time. Take care all.

Hi sadG, I enjoy reading your as its great inspiration and somehow the thought of all of us here trying to break this killer habit.

I too sometimes have the trouble of having big unexpected bills and the temptation of gambling to recover the costs is huge. Once I had to spend 1.5k on a holiday (unexpected trip), and i tried to recoup some of the costs from gambling, and guess what, i lost 10x the amount in a few hours. The holiday was just unbearable after that, and I kinda felt very sorry for my wife and daugther as they could not enjoy it either.

Good to know that all is good on your side. Hope you have a nice Xmas and New year. Stay gamble free!
