Hi all!,

Hope everyone is doing well.

Last time I posted on the site was 20/08/15, which was about my own story, and how I ended up into this ‘thrill’. I also posted on the 09/09/15, about what I thought how most of us ended up gambling.

My journey into becoming ‘free’ began on the 29/08/15. Like most of us we contacted the helpline, forum and chat service for helpful advice and guidance into stopping this habit.

I have always been coming back to the forum to see, how people are getting on, most of them relapsing back into gambling.

This was the same case for me, relapsing.

I contacted a doctor who deals with cognitive behavior, which focuses on thinking positively, and regularly visited him every week. He normally travels to me, as he sees patients who are addictive to things regular.

What can I say, I would class my self as fully recovered, by this I mean I would never return back to gambling.

I feel FREE.

What I’ve lost in now in the past and looking forward to the future.

If anyone is interested in seeing this doctor, please get in touch, however it isn’t free, his service does cost quite a lot but its better than gambling it away.

Hi AKPatel,

We're delighted to hear that you have found something which helps you and that you now feel free and can look forward to the future.

Just wanted to add for anyone considering private treatment, details of private counsellors near you can be found at the BACP website www.itsgoodtotalk.org.uk. Those in Scotland can also search http://www.cosca.org.uk/ for accredited counsellors in Scotland.

It's also worth remembering that free treatment is available via GamCare, and in London, via the NHS National Problem Gambling Clinic. Your GP may also be able to refer you to counselling in your area.

Hope your recovery continues well. All the best
