Hi all,

On day 3 of no gambling and feeling good.

Been quite an easy first few days as I have no money to spend even if I did want to! The real test will be on the 15th, and then again at the end of the month as these are our paydays (mine and my wife's)

Will make sure that I keep a regular check on this site and update my diary.

Good luck to everyone else out there!

Morzy

morzy. Welcome. You will find a wealth of support and advice here, keep posting and reading it will help. Today i give you this advice we all compulsive gamblers wear "gambling googles" whilst at it and our focus is well you know at best blurred. By abstaining you remove them and life will become daily more focused. There is a triangle TIME-MONEY-LOCATION take one away and you cant have a punt my friend giving you addled brain a chance to re focus. Be kind to yourself you are taking on a huge thing in arresting your addiction. Just for today no bet. Duncs stepping forward never back.

Thanks for the reply duncanmac, what you have said does make sense.

I think I will start by asking somebody else to get my lunch at work, as it's typical that the sandwich shop Is next door to the bookmakers!

Take care

Morzy

Well it's day 5 today, and I'm feeling rather positive at the moment.

I'm off work today spending some time with my son, but I have made sure that I have filled my time with fun things to do so that I don't think about online roulette etc.

Just taking small steps at the moment but here's to day 6!

m. Fella a day off with your son doing things that are fun versus a day doing your lot and the stress and endless lies that go hand in hand with it. I know which one i would pick you? Fella you are making the right choice, just for today no bet, give yourself that 100% payrise thats what gamble free you do. Well done from me duncs compulsive gambler no bet today. Stepping forward never back.

Day 6 today.

Bit of a struggle as found out that I actually have a bit of money in the bank, and I was very tempted to nip into the bookies.... But the good thing is I didn't!!!

Feel good now as I have beaten my first urge to gamble.

Good luck to all others, and here's to day 7 tomorrow!

Hi all,

It's the wife's payday today, which means that she gives me some cash to pay the mid month bills with.

I have t been near the bookies or casino and I dot intend to, but the next 48 hours will be the big test, especially as its the weekend.

Keeping myself busy so I don think about gambling, and will check in again on Sunday night.

Good luck all,

M

Slight set back today after I have been doing so well.

Went out to get some shopping from tesco and on the way back stopped at a local betting shop and lost £60.

Really really gutted with myself as I was doing so well. Now I has no cash until Friday when I get paid (good job my wife has).

Maybe I was neive to think that I could *** this problem on my first attempt, so back to day 1 I go!

Not been here for a while, and it's been a real struggle.

I sold my car with the intention of buying something different, but you can all guess how it ended-it was all wasted in he casino.

I am really down at the moment, so need to stop going to the bookies and self exclude for all shops and casinos in my area.

Can anybody offer any other advice?

Thanks for reading

James

Hi there,

Best advice I can give is just come here and everytime you get that urge, get writing in your diary, just write anything, but do not gamble. Its still early days for me, but I'm confident and positive that to be without gambling is the right step. To me its an act of self-sabotage when it's compulsive. You have to put your mind to it, be positive and think of all those reasons you shouldn't gamble.

All the best,

Alex

Thanks for the advice guys.

I am more positive today, not going to gamble tonight and it feels good to say that.

It wi be a test tomorrow and Thursday as I am working away from home so will really have to be strong and not gamble out of boredom.

Will check in again tomorrow.

Cheers

do yourself a favor and travel with just a few dollars in your pocket. money breeds temptation so have as little as possible on you at all times.
