gazza, just read the last few pages of your diary and its great to see the success you are having, be very proud of youself, as only other addicts realise your abstinence is a huge achievement. have a good day

Day 608, 609 (87 weeks) and 610

Thanks NM for your post.

Dunc has been in my mind for the last few days. I really feel for him after his slip and can relate to his feelings of low self esteem. It was Dunc who quoted the stat that only 3 out of 100 get to a year gamble free. In my experience, the vast majority who get to 1 year go on and remain gamble free-i'm only basing this on my experiences at my GA group.

Best wishes,

gazza

Gazza

Fella thanks for the kind words on my thread my friend, a very foolish chain of events led me to think gambling would once again be the answer in my life, to which in a very sobering moment three hours later I once again understood fully the reasons I choose recovery.

With honesty I will follow the continued recovery path and my lifes goal to better those statistics continues.

Those stats of 3% for the first year are true for my GA room and the sad thing is the odds of 3% abstaining in the following year from year 1 to year 2 lessen again!! I know I gifted my continued abstinence back to my addiction. and with that helped those stats!!

Keep up the good work my friend I will be right behind you.

Duncs stepping forward never back.
