Hello, just thought I'd share how happy I am for reaching day 16 gamble free today. It's a big achievement for me having spiralled deeper and deeper into a crippling gambling addiction especially this year. It got so bad I'd ended up losing over 5k in the space of a month probably 15 plus this year alone. And finally broken financially and emotionally I turned to gamcare for help. I spoke to a very understanding lady on the helpline first. Then joined here. I love reading the stories and tips and I love the days counter on my account page showing me how much I've achieved since joining. Before I joined I'd not been gamble free for more than a few days at a time for ages. Blackjack in casinos and to a much lesser extent roulette were my main vices. Never slots unless I was in vegas. Stupidly I thought I had a strategy for blackjack and could win but instead lost thousands. Temptation is everywhere I still stare when I go past a casino lustfully but I've managed to resist. Also what is really helpful in the UK is I don't carry cash with me into town when I go to work other than a tenner for lunch or coffee. I've realised I can't yet trust myself in town with money.
Also my granny passed away on Sunday just gone. It's made me really sad as we were so close and she would have hated to see me addicted to gambling or in debt so I'm determined to try and sort out my finances and terrible debts and burry gambling forever in her memory. Thanks everyone though for using the forum and posting all the stories and support which have made a big difference in my recovery so far. I am still focusing on staying gamble free one day at a time but hopefully soon I will have bigger goals of like ten days at a time.
