Hi all,
Thought I'd post an update to these threads:
https://www.gamcare.org.uk/forum/recovery-diaries/battling-sports-addiction/paged/12/
I used to be a Sports betting addict, where at the height of it, I would spend my salary, max out my credit cards (2 at a time), take pay day loans, and have ZERO savings. I lost relationships, friendships - it was a truly dark period of my life, which was out of control after my break up.
In total I must have lost over 20k to Gambling.
Fast forward, 331 days since I last gambled I have now over 9k saved up, and have spent money on more meaningful things, personal training, self-development (courses) - where in that time I am in the best shape of my life, and doing well professionally.Â
The secret to stopping was a tool called 'GamStop'.
A UK self exclusion scheme. I made a stupid mistake deactivating it in the past, and it lead to gambling, but since then it is on, and has literally saved me from financial ruin. I highly recommend any addicts battling their addiction to sign up to it.
Massive congratulations dark horse!!! Well done and keep going one day at a time! My CG partner also has a personal trainer and is very happy to be able to afford one! He looks forward to his session every week. 🙂
