Hi, my name is Kay

My boyfriend Tom is a compulsive gambler.

Last christmas he hit rock bottom and stole money from his dad to gamble, a lot of money. Since then he was getting some help he was going to GA and also seeing a counsellor through GCS. He was on the right track! I could see a change in him and his attitude towards our future was positive.

Unfortunately the sessions came to end for unknown reasons, the counsellor wasn't providing sessions anymore. When in touch with GamCare again we were advised they were no longer taking people on.

This was a few months ago, since then he has gotten worse and now he is at rock bottom again, he gambles constantly, he lies and goes behind my back. He tells me to leave if i can't accept it because he's always going to do it.

The problem I'm facing is whether or not i should leave or stick by him becuse i know he can do it.

I know he needs to want to do it, and he did previously, he was let down which made him think he couldn't get help. I know deep down he wants to settle down and move on from his problem so that we can have a family and be as normal a family as possible.

I don't know whether it's worth me staying and going through hell with him every weekend when im begging him not to do it. I don't think he really sees how much he is hurting me and his family.

He's at the point now where he doesn't care about the consequences. He needs a shock for him to realise how bad the problem is, like what happened last Christmas when he came to the realisation of what he'd done.

I really need some advise, I feel like im so alone with this.
