Hi everyone,
I hope it’s okay to post this here.
I’m currently creating a new podcast called Rock Bottom Isn’t the End — It’s the Beginning, focused on honest conversations with everyday people about gambling addiction, recovery and rebuilding life.
I have been active on the forums in the past during my own journey with gambling addiction, and I know how important spaces like this can be, not just for the person gambling, but for the people affected by it too.
I have lived experience of gambling addiction myself, and I’ll be sharing my own story in the opening episode. But I also know that gambling addiction does not just affect the person gambling. It affects partners, parents, siblings, children, friends and families, often in ways that are painful, confusing and very lonely.
I believe one of the most damaging parts of gambling addiction is the secrecy and lies around it. Because there is not always obvious physical evidence, it can stay hidden until someone either admits it or is found out. By that point, the people around them are often left dealing with shock, hurt, broken trust, financial worry and a lot of unanswered questions.
I would really like the podcast to include voices from family members, partners and friends too, not just the person with the addiction.
I’m looking to speak with people who may be willing to share their experience of being affected by someone else’s gambling. This could be about finding out, rebuilding trust, setting boundaries, supporting someone, walking away, dealing with debt, or just the emotional impact it had on you.
Recordings would take place online between now and late August and would last around an hour. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and we can discuss boundaries beforehand. You do not need to have a perfect ending or all the answers, the aim is simply to have honest, human conversations that may help others feel less alone.
If this is something you might be interested in, you can reply to this post, message me directly, or email:
Thank you for reading, and to anyone supporting someone through gambling harm, you are not alone either.
